Is there any way to make the performance faster when water is turned on?

It's the Intel GMA graphics. I have those in my laptop and it does not run water at all above 19 fps. Intel GMA's have a tendancy to not run shaders very well. On my desktop with dedicated video it runs great.

@Thedeserteagle,
In the water map in the sample folder, I get 4 FPS outside of the water and about 7 inside! Pretty slow huh?

I remember doing extensive testing with one of my levels when water first came out, and it had absolutely no effect on my FPS if I had water in the level compared with not having it in the level.

I've now updated 1.19 and it cuts my FPS in half when I'm in the water, when before it had no effect. I'd love to know what has been changed that has caused this to happen

Thanks Thraxas for that info about v1.19 as i was just about to download and use, but i shan't bother now,

And also i did not get any bad fps when using water, if anything it may have dropped by 1 or 2 fps, but not 100% sure as my maps are full size and chocca blocked with stuff.

But because my scenes are so big i did get poor fps anyway, from around 20 to 75 depending where i was in the map * outdoor * and so i put together an Ocean shader that cured my low fps from low 20 ish to a low of 35 ish and 87 high end.

But i do have one Hint, don't use the water floor segment, as it creates high data usage causing poor frame rate, i made my own and reduced the texture file size by 60% and the quality was still brilliant,

Also remember when using water on out door scenes, is to make a wall that is the same colour as the water and use that wall on all the outside the surounding area of the water, as that stops the game engine bleeding data out side the map,

i hope you know what i mean, here is a demo vid i made

Enjoy
