If say, I want to sell a game created in FPS Creator, and I currently live in Norway, do I have to get a selling license to do this?

For example, chedem (or something) sold their game
here http://www.thehistoryforge.com/index.html
(the game is called Pioneering)

I was wondering this.

Sincerly,
Nic

What? There is only one of you?

You dont need anything from TGC or FPSC, you dont have to pay any royalties or so as long as you own your copy of FPSC legaly.

But if you plan on selling your game you should make sure that you do it all legal with your government.

I dont know how it works in Norway, but in Sweden you could run it as a hoby project to a certain point.

There is one exception that comes to mind... there may be more but I can't think of any at the moment.

Please read the EULA that comes with each model pack. Some of the model packs require that you "inform" the artist when you use their content in a commercial project. You don't need permission, you bought the pack and it comes with permission, but in some cases you did agree (by using the content) to "inform" them of it's use in a commercial project. This is normally just a matter of sending an email to them. You don't need to wait for a reply or permission.

That's my understanding of it.

Brian.

I totally forgot about that Brian. The same goes for each object you buy in the Game Creator Store. Each model got its own license, but if you have bought all objects from one seller you dont have to send an e-mail for each object.

So if I purchase a model pack of TGC store, am I not entitled to use the model pack in a commercial game unless its specified within the MP license?

You can use them all commercially. in some cases all you have to do is send an email to the model pack creator informing them that you are doing so. If you read the license it will tell you the exact wording for the email, so it really will only take you 1 min to copy/paste the email and put your own name in the right space. Here's one from the GCS store:

COMMERCIAL LICENCE OFFER

This document represents an irrevocable offer made by the Seller (as defined below) to the Customer (as defined below) to enter into a legally binding contract on the terms described below.

This offer is irrevocable and may be accepted at any time by the Customer notifying the Seller of its acceptance of the offer. Notification may be made by sending an email to the email address below with the full name of the Customer in the subject line followed by the words "accepts the commercial licence terms for 2-Hand Sword 1A (Common)".

The email address is: redacted
