I was wondering if there was a way to make the fire settings in FPSC look for realistic. What particle settings do you recommend.

It would be cool if FPSC could handle steam effects and stuff.

Sprite Pack

thats the pack and I tried it in FPSC and its ace... Note if your on x64 windows... you need to set the install path manually or copy the files across to the correct directory post install ... you also get DBPro copies in the same pack

think of what particles appear in a fire.

firespot, flames, smoke, ash. use the 4 as particles in the same spot. play around with them until you get the wished optic. complex, but should look nice with this.

The question is, how do you even get started with creating particles? Is it an entity with the FPSC editor that you place and then customize from there?

Place any decal on your map, change it's main script to decalparticle.fpi which you should find in the main scriptbank folder. Play with the settings until you get the result you're looking for. That's it.
