hi people,

OK, here's the problem, , i want to make a program in which the backdrop is invisible, so you can see the dasktop, but still be able to see the matrix and sprites and .X files etc. or even beeter i want to make an app. that is totally invisible (AND DON'T SAY IT'S CALL MINIMIZING!) to the screen, as if you were looking through an unseeable piece of glass attached to the screen, if you see what I mean. But I don't know how to do it. Can any of you help me out?

rikki.

A good start would be to look into getting the background as an image, with that you could probably get it as a background for your game. I imagine that a .dll would let you capture the screen somehow - so you should start looking there.

I think it's been done with DBC and DarkMATTER before, but that was a long time ago.

i'm not sure how you can do it in DBP without a DLL plugin i'm afraid, however in DB it is a simply case of minimising and taking a snapshot of the back buffer.
Then saving that to a memblock/array so that you can then use the pixels as a background bitmap for the area the window is currently covering.

It doesn't work as well in DBP because everything turns exclusive, backbuffer/window properties/etc...
which is rather annoying.

Short answer is really without having the ability to take a screenshot of your desktop without the window, you can't do it.
There maybe a way using the Windows System DLLs - but for the life of me i can't think what it is.
