Coming over from DB, I'm trying to figure out why every model I load has specular overbrightness going on. In otherwords they turn white on certain angles. It looks like there's a million watt light shining on them. In DB everything looked flat and cosistant. If I have no light sources, what is causing this? Any suggestions? I don't want to see every facet like I am now..

In Patch 5 they changed the lighting to specular, causing ceratin models without specular information to look bright.

But what are the defaults? If I never turn them on why should it be so bright? It tried turning them off and they still glow.

Try just fiddling around with the new light commands (specular, ambient, emmisive and diffuse) and see what settings fix your object.

Do you bite your thumb at me sir?

Have a look at the emissive etc. properties - they could be causing it.

SET OBJECT DIFFUSE : SET OBJECT DIFFUSE Object Number, Color Value
SET OBJECT AMBIENCE : SET OBJECT AMBIENCE Object Number, Color Value
SET OBJECT SPECULAR : SET OBJECT SPECULAR Object Number, Color Value
SET OBJECT EMISSIVE : SET OBJECT EMISSIVE Object Number, Color Value
SET OBJECT SPECULAR POWER : SET OBJECT SPECULAR POWER Object Number, Power

Also, you can try hide light 0 to remove the default light and you should definately try set normalization on/off.

I had a similar problem. Though for me, instead of going white, polygons turned black. It was horrible but I fixed it by using set object ambience to 0.

The default for specular lighting is "on".
