Hello all,

I designed a application which is specially made for FPSC users.

What it does:

the user will add a .fpi Script, it will be added to a database and also to a server. (the user also will get a personal directory on the server) after upload it will appear in the scripts section (could take 20 seconds) and is available for download for every user connected to the system.

What does it costs:

It's totally free to use and download, donations are welcome though

Is it big and heavy in use:

installer is 800 KB
the application 2 MB

Do I need to check for updates:

NO! not needed. the application will download and check by his self

What are the features:

Done:
W.I.P:
Not started:

Add scrips
View / download scripts
avatars
bug reports
change settings
auto update
auto check for new scripts ( every 20 seconds)
on demand, live update (be updated every minute)
Search in sectors (on username etc.)

more features could be added during dvelopment and bug reports ( also may contain new features in problem field)

Can I see it:

Off-course !

This looks like a well thought out and useful program. I appreciate the idea that it's pretty much self contained and updated. It should be able to grow and gain users/momentum with little work or additional input. I would work a little on the spelling and grammar to make it read as well as it looks and works. Nice work!

I'm a little confused about the avatars/images. Does anyone but you see this? I don't see it showing up on the scripts tab.

Brian.

that is a todo thingy. it will be added when the program grows. at this moment, you are the only person who is able to see it, but when it's big and many users are connected.. I will make it cross platformed ( so every user appears on the website (with scripts) ) as in a forum. and everyone could see your avatar. at this stage (alpha) all files are in the program directory except for the scripts which are actually on the servers.

and thanks for your review Brian

This is a very nice looking tool, I'm sure it'll find a lot of users.

This looks good. The interface is user-friendly, and as Brian mentioned, just needs a minor clean-up with the spelling and grammar.

If a user downloads a script, where does it download to? Does it assume a specific path (ex: C:\Program Files\The Game Creators\FPS Creator\Files\scriptbank) or does the user specify where it is downloaded to? I ask only because not all of us use a default installation location.

Another thing to think about is your database server. You will need to ensure it is up, and if not perhaps a form to notify the user that the connection could not be made at that time when they open the app and try to connect. This way users don't get frustrated.

What happens if a user tries to upload a script with the same name as another? Does it matter if I upload a script called makecoffee.fpi and Brian also uploaded a script with the same name? If I upload my maketea.fpi script and attempt to upload it again, what happens?

It may be good to have some of these questions/answers in some documentation, either a help file attached to your app or other form (pdf, word doc, CHM). This will help keep the amount of time you may end up spending on fielding little questions.

Overall, looks good and hope it works out well for you.

it downloads to the standard directory.

I'm using a dedicated database and server. were I am paying for. with unlimited bandwidth. the up-time is 99.99%

nothing will happen, and upload will just be done. if the same users uploads the same script 2 times. it will give errors.

Great tip! will do that

It doesn't need to work out well for me... but for you guys I'm using a different engine since a few months ago. which have C++, C#, C, VB(.net), LUA, Bmax and delphi. vehicle support, directX11 support, specialized physics and more.

I hope it will work for the people who helped me growing! the great people as you blackfox thanks to your scripts. I analysed them. and got high value information. and now I'm using it with LUA

I hope I have informed you enough by giving you these information.
Have a nice weekend

nope sorry, but the title says else, sorry made a typo
it has to be 2012 instead of 2010...

the program will be released as soon as possible. but need to fix some very major bugs. want to make faster connections. multi threading. and also the searching needs to be made. on demand update is finally done, it took like 2 hours to make that.

Looks great. The only question I have is:

Is there anything that prevents someone from uploading standard scripts? Like the ones that come with model packs?

Or how about preventing someone from uploading scripts that they paid for from one of the script gurus, but now makes it available to everyone?

I'd hate to have to pay for something (like a script from a model pack) only to find out that someone already uploaded it...

We have mods on the systems, they will check the systems for any illegal content. also end-users can send a message, and when that is done we will disable the IP, computer name and account. because the program can determine all of the above. if the user thinks to outsmart us, we will also block his unique number a.k.a MAC addres. not the good way, then the bad way around
everything is full automatic and with one simple click we can disable any kind of connection.

MILESTONE!

I'm back from my vacation, school and exams. began programming, and just added the great value called: Multithreading.

normally a form will stuck / not responding. but now, I added multi threading. the form will store important values which takes longer than 1 second in his own thread, so it will be processed from the background.

program will then run smooth
