for a little concept I had. wanted to see if it could be done. anyways- here's a video of the level, talking about how to understand the AI:

and here's a download for the level.

http://www.mediafire.com/?44threhuq5nc63l

If possible, I'd love it if anyone that played it left me some info regarding:

were there any exploits to make the AI unable to kill you?
were there any bugs other than the ones listed?
how many tries did it take you?
was it too easy/difficult?
general suggestions?

Known bugs:
Enemy guns going through walls- this can be fixed when I make the AK47 vweap a tiny bit smaller.

Enemy can get stuck in air duct- not sure how to fix this yet.

Rules:
one shot kills you.
enemies take more than one shot.
peeking disabled.

The video looks like a huge achievement for FPSC AI. Downloading now. I'll get back to you once I've played it a few times.

One try, played through it twice.

Quote: "was it too easy/difficult?"

Well, I was very cautious, petrified that a single bullet could kill me. Enemies suppressing me made me especially careful. The AI was great in that sense.

I would love to test it, but when I open it...it says
Quote: ""This application has failed to start because MSVCR100.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem""

P.S, do these scripts only work in v119 beta?

nice work! Bugsy... just wanted to say I enjoyed watching the video... a rareity on the forum... most videos are about some strange mythical animals...

Just wanted to commend you on your effort its giving me the chills just watching the video haha i was almost dodging while watching the video lol reminds me of MGS on PS1

EDIT

OH almost forgot to add... the wireframe was nice!

EDIT

Perhaps make the wireframe some kind of time skill? you know like maybe in Max Payne style slowmo timer bar cant think how to describe it

so the new radar feature is best out of 1.19 for you, i guess?^^

very nice gameplay show. search forum for sneak/stealth, i think storyteller and another guy (if not you) discussed this a few wekks back. would be a nice addition too, and now with wasp-commands absolutely possible to do.

EDIT: ahh, here we go. http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=188380&b=23

no. v1.18 or even v1.17 but don't steal them.

it's a built game so just download the dll and put it in the folder. sounds like you prolly gotta update directX

perfect.

Wireframe isn't meant to be in game. it's only to showcase in the video what the AI does.

I had a long conversation with myself over whether or not I should add the implementation of "sneaking" or "stealth" into the AI. fact of the matter is, these enemies can be snuck past, but only by realistic means. slinking through the shadows as conspicuously as possible isn't something that would, in real life, effectively hide a person. "Sneaking" past these enemies would involve checking to see where they were, luring them to one area, perhaps with a grenade, or by making noise there, and then going around behind them.

@Bugsy - I wasnt going to steal them, I was just wondering because I wanted to try them in a different level. I wouldn't re-distribute somebody's hard work like that.

tbh, I'd prefer you didn't, as the level is set up in such a way that they'll work properly, and I haven't even tested them in other situations myself.

Realism? With that number of grenades you would have brought down the building

Anyway, nice AI. A tad smarter than FPSC's default AI? Just a suggestion; if you could add voice communication between team members you would increase player immersion.

Nice work

big lol & yes, right.

bugsy, cant you (player) use parts of the enviroment as boxes and stuff? i dont have the beta yet, but i know that there was a antigrav-weapon implemented in waspmod, could be that its also implemented in beta. with a little scripting or editing you could use as hands to throw things around instead of using grenades to pull the enemies to a target place (like deusex & co).

just a thought.

that's a damn good idea.

Quote: "throw things around instead of using grenades"

actually, that's also a great idea. since I made the grenades do very little damage, I considered using little noisemakers to replace them. that way they'd serve the same purpose, but in the final game I could use a different model. I'm planning on re-animating the guns anyway. on that note, does any of you have Ultimate Unwrap 3d who'd love to do me some favours?

@ Bugsywell, i played the demo 2 times took me 3 tries the first time and 1 the last time i just added then togethere
the last time i played the demo i found out i could throw a grenade were the other guard was so they both ended up in that place.i went back down stairs and move far back from the walls then went inside, they were facing the vent so i went behind the crate and killed them

well, I took influence from other games, and plan to do a rigorous community beta test to make sure it's nice and fun, while being as real as it can be.

it's more or less started, they're really just a modified version of the scripts I use in When Worlds Collide. These ones are a little bit more geared towards tactical gameplay and realism however.
