After many years away from programming I have found out my dbpro box and installed it today on my laptop. I have also downloaded and installed the latest update 7.7. My dbpro shortcut is running in administrator mode. I have downloaded and installed dx9.0c..

Dbpro is compiling my .exes but not running any of them, even the included examples..

Anyone hazard a guess as to why this might be ? It's windows 7 home 64bit I am using...

Thanks in advance...

Oh yeah, if I compile and run in debug mode it seems to work, but won't compile/run normally..I've just found that out, but since I've had to start a new account I have to get my post count up again

Get the latest DBPro upgrade from here:

That should do it.

MrValentine is right, disable UAC. It's nothing but an annoyance anyway.

His post is correct in every respect so I can't really add anything more.

I wouldn't disable UAC. It's a good security measure. I enable it on windows 7 machines I install unless people are adament about removing it. (since I'm the one who has to fix it when things fail)

I don't have any problems with DBP on Windows 7 with UAC. You just need to install *outside* of program files.

Hmmm, it is installed in programs files (x86) directory, but I cant understand this :-

(in new editor)

compile+run (F5) compiles then does nothing..If I press f8 (execute last build) it works...

(in old editor)
compile/make exe (f5) gives list index out of bounds (1) when i click ok the program runs, however it clears the source code window

pretty annoying eh ?

Have tried to do all the things mentioned in my valentines link, other than as mentioned above installing into a different directory-would this make a difference eg c:\dark basic software\ ?

@zenassem it would have been Fash, FashFD, or Steve Fash...I used to do a lot of music mods for the blitz basic and dark basic community (plus some commercial work) years ago and a bit of coding (tinkering) in both languages..

uninstalled everything, reinstalled in c:\dark basic software and hey presto, no errors
Thanks for your help...now to try and remember coding techniques I forgot years ago, lol

I may consider adding this to my tut... but I think it may be beside the point so good to see that works for the non disable UAC method... I might add it as an alternative there...
