Ok, so I've got 2 different questions regarding using flames on torches.

1. I'm using the wall torch model from Kasseyus' cave pack, and the FPE file indicates that decal0 = torchflame (or is it just flame?). Anyhow, I place the torch and test the level, and the light function works, but there is no decal attached to the model. Am I missing something in the pack that should be there? Or is the FPE incorrect?

2. Apart from the above, I've tried using every animated sprite and decal I've got that simulates fire, as well as searching and trying every other sprite and decal I can find that simulates fire, and they are all either too large or too small for the wall torch (or any other torch, for that matter). Does anyone know of a sprite or decal that would be suitable for the wall torch?

Where is decalspec.txt located? Is this a file that is used prior to converting it to FPSC readiness? If so, I am not familiar at all with doing that.

\Files\gamecore\decals...folder for whichever decal your using.

Check out the fpe for whichever decal you place the name of the decal folder is in there. You can add this line for scale in decalspec.txt if its not already there, x is a percentage:

scale = x

Awesome! Its one of those threads.

elbow: yes, it was. It not only solved the problem I was currently having with the torch flame, but gave me knowledge I can use when laying down and applying all kinds of decals and sprites throughout the game. It wasn't just a quick fix - it's knowledge I can use from here on out with all decals.

What elbow meant is that maybe "rolfy, you are a genius. thanks man" would have been a more appropriate response on these forums.

But anyway, yes, rolfy is one of many really helpfull forumites around here, glad you were able to get your problem solved

Leon

Some of us here are Christians and I do not believe comparing Rolfy's salvation (solving) of a scripting problem is comparable to him being labelled someone's "freakin" or any other type of Jesus Christ.

I do not want to start a theological discussion here but please be aware that comments like those are offensive to others.

Thanks

Eugene

PS I also didn't know that one can scale a decal - so thanks for that Rolfy.

first, I am not trying to offend anyone. if that happens, I apologize.

second, if I'm happy, I'm gonna express it.

Guys, I'm also trying to add the Wall Torch from the same pack. It looks ok, but if I do the above and add the decal, for instance, firesmall, it shows correctly, but doesn't animate.

Thanks for any advice, still learning...
