Wings 3d came out with the new stable release February 7th, with some new toys to play with in it. Wings 3d is Open Source, so it is free, and commercial use granted. So what does this new release bring? Not a clue. I can't find a list of the new features but I have it open right now so I will tell you what I find. Enjoy the new release!

The newest version came out 02/07/2011. It's 2012 now.

If you want the enhanced version of Wings3d here is the link.

It has the Manifold lab built in, which adds these features.

epic fail...

lets make use of this thread...

I have a question regarding Wings3D... well a few actually

it mentions UV... from what I understand thats an image with each face of an object mapped our right? so that you can paint it right?

im wondering if I can create something in say 3DWorldStudio and import it into say Wings3D and create UV mapping...

and also what formats does it support... their website is confusing as a brick wall... in a labyrinth

You can indeed import a model and UV map it. Its UV mapping tool is also very advanced. I highly recommend it. Formats- Import- .ndo .3ds .ai .lwo .lxo .obj .ps .eps .stl .svg export- .ndo .3ds .bze .dae .eps .xml .lwo .lxo .obj .pov .rwx .stl .wrl .x

IMO wings 3d is a very intuitive program and I love it. It has a similar interface to 3ds max and is a great tool to learn the basics of modelling on before taking that leap.
