This is pritty cool cause this game im working on will be played while making it

I will post an official post in the forums to follow when i have some sort of release to share but for now here is a sneak peek at what im currently working on.

Once im finished my game i will also include this sand box editor to change the game completely!

and of coarse i will clean it up and make it user friendly....

here is the video...post comments and leave feedback. (its still in early stage development)

map sizes are 500x250 tiles 10x10x10 blocks (no it doesnt draw all of them just whats in the display area)

i think this post should belong to Work In Progress threads..

but at any case, its very nice engine you made there!
how ever all of those blocks you make, they make the game run slower and slower, i can see that on ur show case video you made.
are you planning to do something with this fps decreasing?

there is actualy a delay in dropping the characters.... so i dont accidently spawn too many at once.....also if the video recorder is not running it doesnt lag at all

I have had a full map 500x250 filled on my pc running at 1.6ghz windows 7 and it seams fine.

The lag you seen may have been coming from the enemies code actualy too wich i will definetly optimize

Yeah, that looks fun. I've had over 40000 sphere on the screen, it lagged, but it means that with boxes you are safe. Anyway, all you have to do is save their positions in a dim.

with this it uses 391 boxes total (ever loaded at once) over a map of 500x250 tiles... basicaly when the boxes positions get into the draw area they are then loaded and displayed.


cool i will post another video when i get some more enemies in there and possibly a boss...lol!
Im also coding some performance boost to it so it handels everything better. Hopefully the next video will show that.

I didnt start a wip for this yet cause i havent released anything yet....other then this video and dont have a real set name for the project yet.

WOW THAT IS AMAZING!!!WELL DONE!!! NOW ADD A SKY BOX!!! [make it rotate slowly]

and also when you start recording maybe disable desktop composition [disable AERO] it should help improve recording frame rates

keeping my eyes on this one!

I've since sped my code up alot too and am now adding extra layers other then the 1.

This week im gunna finalize the graphics for the critter and then start working on another enemy to place in.

well.... i decided to switch this project over to 3d overhead....now ive been working with a different graphics style too to mimic minecraft slightly.....but better detail for the most part.

I made a few videos showcasing the new 3d overhead 3rd person engine and i must say its pritty fun so far to play with.

Yeah, that's good! Nice, and fast. Add some alpha to the placing square, it looks a bit simple as white. I know it's kind of a small change, but small changes can be neat, and tidy.

im gunna do the enviroment graphics next and will showcase a video of me making houses / buildings and such

I have an idea where if inside the building it will kill the surrounding enviroment so you see nothing but inside the building.

I guess this will be possible now...lol! Somehow my game evolved badly into a minecraft first person shooter engine.....lol!
however i think my graphics look better at least and humm..... i might hafta name this game DoomCraft lol!

Imaging playing a randomized world map with doom type characters and weapons but having a completely destructable world.

Anyways i may have an alpha release very shortly (this month) and you will be at least able to create and destroy things.

Im going to code in a side kick robot character that will help you in the game for building stuff and helping you solve in game puzzles. etc....

Here is a video and i will start a new thread this month to post the alpha drawing/creation portion. Then i will work on the randomized caves/buildings....and bad guys....and items.

Best part being the weapons.....ooh and the bosses

Here is another video (Originaly shot with my phone... then i realized i needed to buy new software badly for capturing video)

I will make a new thread in the WIP Section when my demo alpha is ready!

Anyways the video... [Currently working on buffering items onto the screen so i can get that view distance greater] I figure i should be able to get more in there by combining objects into limbs....and with the help of WlgFX im sure he will help me get that distance much greater !

With making the building tiles? Sure if you want too

The tile sizes used are 10x10x10 so if you make a nice mesh wall it should fit in that boundry area but does not need to occupy the whole space. ALso the uv mapping involves 3 textures side by side in one texture.

1. top face
2. middle faces
3. bottom face

Also i need to make roof tiles and such as well.

Currently the game grid map is 1000x200x1000 of those 10x10x10's and it always can display 30x14x30 of those 10x10x10 tiles... but im working with wlgfx to increase the distance view... So hopefully it works out.

But again....if you would like to contribute to the project i have no problems with that and you will be credited for it.



edit: here is a screen shot with no loss in image quality to show you how it actualy looks....the video blurs it a tad
