Hello,
FPS Creator isn't 3D Modeling Program. We can't say you what programs to use, but i can tell you my personal opinion. I'm a customer of Autodesk Products, and i use AutoCAD Design for modelling and texturing. Autodesk Programs are so far the best one you can find, but the price is a little high, so if you are looking for cheaper one, i heard Milkshape is a good one (It's only $25 i think). Those programs do have UVW Mapping possibilities, so you can texture your models in them. Photoshop is actually the best texture editing program you can use, and it's User - Frienly. You can find out a lot of tutorials on the Youtube, or on the products office pages itselfs. So, just try to stay focused, search for tutorials on youtube, check out the FPSC - Guide that comes with FPSC, and you would be ready to do some basic stuff then. Cheers!

Best Regards,
Crysis.

Sorry. Mispelling in topic. Is there a freeware programs for models. I dont't want to publish any models now.

Just some wall textures. How I can make them?

There are freeware 3D programs also. GMAX program, Google Sketchup, Animbor and so on.

For making textures try GIMP or Paint.net which are both free to do your textures with. Hope this is what you needed to know, trying to help you out.

The best program similar to Adobe Photoshop is GIMP, which is free ofcourse. For 3D, Sketchup Free and GMAX should be good.

If you want to learn how to texture, here is a link that will direct you to some good video tutorials. I still have to learn how to texture myself You'll also find out how to model and UV Map.

One question more:
What is a correct size of wall texture?
I mean in pixels. Is it 64x64 or 128x128 or what?

Standard texture sizes used would be 512*512 and 1024*1024 one deciding factor of which to use would be how detailed is the texture and how much detail and how clearly you want the details to show.

It can really get a bit more complicated and a more drawn out explanation could be made if you wanted to try different level design methods.

For instance, I have been working on trying Modular Designs out. Which in an essence FPSC uses this style, but rarely will you ever see segments for FPSC beyond the 1x1 segment dimensions.

For textures, I recommend Paint.NET. Simple to use, lots of tutorials out there, and it's free.

For creation of segments from those textures, I use Signs. I got this YEARS ago from one of the members here, and it has been invaluable in creating those custom wall segments and entities that I need (especially an invisible wall entity).

For modeling, Blender is a good choice. It's free, and has a dedicated user community for it. I have only attempted small things, and nothing has been exported for use in FPSC. But, I have it and play around with it (and after my test project in FPSC I will go further in-depth to create custom entities and objects).

I know you said "enough links", but this is a very helpful all around site and page. http://fpsc.wikia.com/wiki/Pipeline
If you are looking for free programs and want the best you can get, then for modeling I can suggest: Blender (by far the best free program available), or for easier choices but less powerful, wings 3d or truespace. For texturing, gimp is easily the best available program, with far more features than paint.net Not to trump it or anything.

Personally for modeling I use a combination of wings 3d and a program called fragmotion, and for texturing I use gimp. I have tried all of the programs I listed so my opinions aren't biased

I use 3ds max, only because I'm allowed to have it for free, I love the ease for modelling, but how would I apply a texture that could be saved as a single image file (.dds) to export to FPSC?

Few questions more:
Can Digital camera be used to create wall textures?

Which folder is for textures:
Segments or texturebank?

Quote: "Can Digital camera be used to create wall textures?"

Yes. You can snap pictures of whatever texture you want, upload to your computer, and then either use that picture or play around with it to give it the right feel, and use that as a texture.

Quote: "Segments or texturebank?"

texturebank stores the textures that are used by segments and entities.
