Your very welcome. That being said, if any other developers would like free hosting, gimme a shout. Maybe in exchange for... testimonials?

Linux. I use Windows for Gaming/Office, Mac for editing film, Linux for servers.

It works nicely.

No. I'll explain this properly now that I'm awake and understand your post

I rent VPS servers, and host various services on them, one of which is web hosting.

I have a question why not just host your self and buy a domain? Its like 10 bucks a year using Go Daddy for a domain and you could use something simple like Wamp to host your self and save your self hassle of dealign with hosting companies.

Because then you have to pay for a decent internet connection ( Most people have crap upload speeds compared to download, me included ), you then have to buy the server hardware, and then pay to power the hardware. There's also noise to be considered, space. If there's a power cut you're screwed.

I think I've made my point.

Hmm... frankly I do not pay much per month for my hosting and they even throw in a free.co.uk domain and you can pay per month instead of full periods up front...

Best suggestion... do your research.

But otherwise theres some of us willing to give some stuff for free

Or in return for stuff...

My concern with JRH is he is hosting locally... my hosting is 50,000MBIT networking... With full redundancy ... I am going to get worlstations on double the speed soon though... will cost me a small fortune per month but for me... worth it...

Don't use godaddy, unless you like promoting companies that support oppresive internet policies, sexism, and abusing customers.

I recommend gandi.net (especially for domains), costs a lot in comparison, but no bull and great perks.

If you want a VPS on the cheap, PRGMR is the best place to go.

I knew there was a reason I liked GoDaddy so much.

I totally recommend them to anyone else who likes those things. They also have pretty good hosting, but that's just a bonus.

No, I don't. Read my post.

If your thinking of renting a VPS I recommend CHVPS if your comfortable without support.

I don't understadn the whole "bash godaddy" because their sexist. They found a way to market their product and it works for them. Personaly If I could aford Dana Id employ her. If I had to guesss I'd say most our jumping on a bandwagon and the few who have a real problem with Godaddy are jelous.

I only have harsh words to say for go daddy but to stay on balance... I use UK based services because I somewhat believe in the mumbo jumbo of support your local businesses... and also I want somewhere nearby that I can go and knock on without having to get raped by airport personnel and perform a job application just to say hello to that statue... [referencing CRB check crap... funny it doesnt occur in the reverse direction though still angry over that... not a political debate as its in no way a political thing]
(I personally do not see the above as anything out of line but if a mod deams it unfit please edit it out... I do not mind as opinions vary}

but yeah I never go cheap either on my service options... so go daddy can go to daddy... as i believe in giving my customers quality first whether I can afford it or not... and for the time being I can

Sorry JRH just confused... but cool

im going for dedi servers soon... need the workstations...

Meh anyhoo the OP has I guess got what they asked for right?

Whoops... And here's me with two .com's from GoDaddy. Uh oh... I can't remember who does the hosting now but it used to be hosting24 and their servers were constantly going down.

My .co.cc is directed to and hosted with 000webhost (the freebie hosting24) and I don't have any issues with the free one at all. Actually, thinking about it, I might run out of space next year...

And I've never heard of VPS...

Jealous? Have you ever used godaddy? If you have, you'd realize how crap they are compared to the competition.

I've used all sorts of places over the years. Godaddy, prgmr, gandi, domainsite, domain.com, beyond all knowledge, spidahost, and a bunch more over the years. Godaddy is bottom of the pack. (well, probably not as bad as domain.com)
