Hi,
I purchased a package which included DBPro, FPSCreator and some content packs last year. Finally getting around to playing with it.

I installed FPSC and the content packs. Now, when I call up one of the sample levels, I only get white walls ... no textures. The thumbnail of the level looks OK (of course).

The other textures (from the content packs) show up fine.

Am I missing something ?

On my order history, I see both FPSC and FreeFPSC listed ... so I presume that I have the "real McCoy" ...

Cheers,
Andy

download and install the 1.18 update and see if that works.

What version of windows are you using? 32 bit or 64 bit? Some of the older packs installers where written for 32 bit which installs to "C:\program files". A 64 bit system is supposed to go to "C:\ Program file (x86)", but the older installers point to "C:\program files" without the (x86). You may have to set the location manually during the installation process.

Ok ... thanks for the input ... I've already updated to 1.18. Using Win7-64.

I've verified that it's installed to "H:\The Game Creators\FPS Creator" ...

One thing I noticed though is that for example the "Armoury Full" segment (from the scifi group) shows in the "Armoury Full.fps" that it is using the texture "texturebank\scifi\floors\metal\f_f_01_d2.tga".

When I look into "files\texturebank\scifi\floors\metal", I do NOT find this ... instead I see a file named "f_f_01_|.dds" (the character after the "01_" is a vertical bar).

Is there a problem with the pathname (containing spaces) ? How come the .fps specifies a TGA, but there's no such file in the specified location ?

I'm confused ...

The _I.dds is the illumination map. You should have both _D2.dds and _D.dds textures to go with it. If you dont have these I can only suggest you re-install (the full FPSC version not the free). It wont matter if the file references tga it should still find it.

Awesome! Its one of those threads.

Hmmm ... this is getting weird ...
I tried to uninstall FPSC in order to "start from scratch" ...
and the "InstallShield Wizard" window shows up and stays at 0% for over 30 minutes ... then I get an error saying that it can't complete the deinstallation (InstallShield Setup engine not working)...

Obviously, something is screwed up ... any ideas what to try next ?

Cheers,
Andy

OK ... problem solved. I actually went into the registry to remove any and all references to FPSC and then did a clean install.

Now I have all textures working ... time to go play ... and learn.

Cheers,
Andy
