pfft! says you
your not the one who has to work with it all bloody week, nor are you creating work that requires a use of all of its buggiest features and at the point of development where you realise that the developers don't have a bloody clue what is important to 3D development they're just trying to make it easy for every idiot who feels he can give 3D a-go.
(can you feel the love for Max )

and i can see why he is aptly named hoax

55000 is WAY too high. And 3DS Max isnt the best for everyone due to its outrageous price.

You should probably shoot a little closer to say, 2000, even 1500.

If you used meshsmooth, just turn down the tesselation.
If nurbs, turn your subdiv down to 0.
Otherwise, you may have to start over. That's far too high for a game model.

And I use max as well, all week at work. Still use it a lot at home, sprung for it a few years ago and have been keeping my lisenc up to date. Don't have six yet, as we havn't updated yet at work.
Keeping them the same version for doing work at home.
Anyways, it's a good package, but it's all personal preferances. Software doesn't make the difference.

Looks pretty good. U can lower the polycount in 3ds max without killing ur model. I had a 110k model and I lowered it to 6k and it looked almost the same.

My site is delyaed for the 250th time!

3DS is Good, Maya is Good, LW is good, they are all good but they all cost over 1k!!! Most of us cant afford that, I wish I could, but till then Milkshape treats me just right

i have used 3ds a lot, and i say it is awesome... but there are many modellers out there that are a lot cheaper that can do almost the same thing... so if you have a couple grand to throw around, its a nice program... but if you are on a budget, go with a cheaper one!

yep they are pretty good (have 2 of em) I find lightwave quite more difficult then 3ds max though. But I didnt pay a fortune for my 3ds max, I got a used cheap one at a garage sale. Too bad I'cant say the same for my LW which I got from a friend who got it the uh..."other" way.

I didnt admit nothing, u cant bust me

Do NOT turn this into a battle of the 3d programs thread.

Was the modeling 100% your own? I'm doubtful.

That head is way to wrinkly, like he has no skull, just really tough skin.

Don't go over board with poly's, that the one mistake I see most often here (other than spellling ). With a good texture even a simple model can look great ('Vagrant Story' for the PS1, anyone?). A decent humaniod at 1k polygons is very do-able.
