In my game, projectiles can be shot and when they hit the ground they explode. The effect looks good and works great, however I feel it could be better. I'm simply using a plain object textured with a flare image and oriented towards camera for the explosion effect. However, near the ground whatever part of the image is below the ground is cut off. This isn't the problem, but because of this, the area on the ground (matix) where the image is cut off looks really choppy and unrealistic. Anyone know of anything I could change or try in theory to beef up the explosion effects?
Here is an example shot of what I'm talking about. The circled part shows the rough transition between matrix and object.
You can see better what I mean in realtime, but dissecting my code to pull out just a demo that shows what I have done wouldn't be worth it at this point.
I have a sign beside my door-hinge, that says nothing rhymes with orange.
