Edit: found the problem, it was Player Checkpoints... If I remove those, it works.

Ok, I tested this with the latest beta, but also with the latest official release.

When my game reaches Level 3, during loading up, at 98%, it crashes.

So, what's the step on figuring out what's happening? As I'm stuck with this problem.

Thanks.

Hi
Well I have all most the same problem only it stops loading for me at my 4 level but does not crash only stops loading. I had the same problem at the 3 level before but I removed a few entitys and soldiers and finally didnt have this problem. But they told me this can also be from damaged entity or script.

First question: Specs of the machine you are running this on?

Second question: Did you try building the game with level 1, loading, then building with level 2, then loading, etc.? Does this happen on every level, or only when you get to level 4?

it happens when played a level, the next level will stop loading. then reload savegame, level loads, but next after that again doesnt load a.s.o.

me too, but i tested with stock, and there it does happen but not all the time, against my own levels. i think some commands or variables interfere with loading from one level to next.
maybe its again a problem with music/sound from level to loadscreen, wich causes levels to crash at the beginning if not propperly setup.

Yes, I have heard of this fix. It works for most people, but I haven't tried it since I use FPSC free, and I have never given my friend more than one level to build for me

Sadly it only worked for three levels because my fourth is not working but I think its because of it to much entitys but I am fixing that now.

Well imageblock.bin should only contain your segments and entitys in compressed form so deleting it should not cause a problem at least it did not for me.

Strange, to me it almost break the game, as some areas it didn't even work. For instance, my grenades would no longer explode after that. I do this in the Files folder of my saved game or the FPS Files folder?

I will run some tests on the bad level, but its a PITA since I have to go thought the other levels first. Not sure if SAVE/LOAD can speed the process up, will try that too...

Thanks guys!

Crap, I removed some things I was hoping to be the problematic ones, still crashes, now at 90%.

Not sure what to do. If I can't find a solution, I will have to drop FPS for good...

I did a quick test. Edited the 2 first levels and made a game with: L1, L2, L1

It crashes when loading L1 again, so its L2 the problem. Now I'm doing a test with L1, L1, L1, L2 to check what happens.

Ok, the upper one works. So its Level 2 the culprit.

Check to make sure you don't have any sound or media/video zones near the beginning of the level (near where the player starts). I've seen threads on this in the past, and this CAN (not will, but can) cause level loading issues.

Ok, I removed some scripts from Level 2 and it doesn't crash anymore. So I will now put those back and remove one by one, and also re-check those out.

One is the stock Water script...

What is the correct way to have a script load when a level starts up? I'm using a trigger-zone.

triggerzone should be the correct way, but you can use a triggerzone that triggers a nonstatic unspawned entity (anywhere on the map) with the wanted script as mainscript. i am doing musicoverride-scripts this way, but as mentioned above, i have problems with this, too, and going the entitytrigger is only a workaround if there are probs with the script itself. maybe a command/actions hardcode causes the crash, then you cant do anything but modding the source... or call scene commander for help^^

! FOUND IT !

CHECKPOINTS = EVIL CRASH

I took the backup of the level, the one that was crashing, and removed all CheckPoints, and it doesn't crash anymore. Humm.... WTF?!

and now you add something new and from there on another thing on the map is "=EVIL CRASH", believe me, fpsc is a mysterious little thing.
but i hope for you this is your errorsource.

good luck.
