@rolfy, yeah, a bit late, but I did want to get these going again. Seems the forums a little less active than I remember it to be though. Which prize will you be adding?

@bugsy, nice work. And early on the entry too.

Hello Kravenwolf,

What do you mean with "...from a modern-day perspective" might you please explain further?

It's nice to know this screenshot competition is back again.

Thank you very much in advance.

@rolfy, added. Thanks

@Northern, modern day perspective as in ancient ruins from the point of view of today's time (rather than setting your screenshot in the relicts of a modern-day city of 2012, and saying the perspective is from the year 3000, etc).

My fpsc is a bit broken. If I prepared a scene and sent it to someone would they be willing to take a screen shot for me? I will also donate the models I made for the scene to the winner (or 2nd place if I win).

Nice one, rolfy. I like it, but I think that, since the light in the forest is coming from above, wouldn't the tops of the ruins be a bit more illuminated?

ah who am I kidding, It's great as it is. I nitpick, I know.

As for you northern, it's awesome to see that you did one based on a real place. is the mountain texture based on a picture of the location too? I'd say bonus points for realism then

Hello Kravenwolf,

No offense, however, the time for the judging of this competition (Ancient ruins) has ended at least for me because if so far there has been no decision about it is likely that there will be anymore after one week later the deadline.

What a pity sees this excellent competition which in addition to stimulating the creativity and serving at the same time as an exercise for contestants creates their 3D models or scenarios, has been finished this way, I mean in the middle of the way, being left behind, without any conclusion and further losing fully this competition its credibility.

I could understand that this competition might be canceled or given a longer time for the deadline because of the very few entries (only three), but this should have been warned about in this thread in consideration of the three people who signed up.

Having said that, I'm removing my entry and quitting from this competition.

Best regards,

Northern

I am not going to jump to conclusions here, its not like him to just abandon something, I think he may be ill or there could be any number of reasons.
However as this seems to be dead in the water and since there were only three entries, my own included, I will give you both a pack of choice just visit my website at the link in the first post and post your choice here.

Awesome! Its one of those threads.

Hello Rolfy,

First of all, I would like to thank you so much of your generosity and kindness in offering to me and Bugsy any of your awesome packs of our choice for free in your website store. However, unfortunately, I cannot accept it, because I think, this would not be fair you have a financial loss on account of this competition, and also I know very well how much work and time are spent when someone making a 3D model, a skybox, a game scenario or any other type of digital art.

Thank you so much once again and you do not get me wrong about it.

All the best,

Well, since this was your desire to offering to me and Bugsy a bonus would be discourteous of me do not get your offer, hence I will accept it.

If you do not mind, the pack I have chosen was the "FPSC weather system," because a weather system is a feature lacking in the FPSC as well, and this package is a "must have" for everyone using the FPSC and willing a weather system.

Through your e-mail for contact in your website, tomorrow in the morning (in my time zone) I shall send my email so you will may send the package I have chosen.

Thank you so much again for your kindness.

Hello all,

@Rolfy - My contact e-mail has been sent already.

@Bugsy

Quote: "...The mountain texture is based on the location of the picture too?"

Yes, the mountain texture was based on actual photos of Incas' terraces in the Andes Cordilleras in Peru (South America) as well as the ancient buildings that were shown in the screenshot.

For those who do not know what does Incas' terraces mean a little explanation: Incas' terrace was an agricultural system used by Inca civilization to plant several vegetables such as potatoes, rice, corn and so forth, on-mountain slopes or terraces. The terraces were built with rocks and trees. The system of agricultural terraces is still used nowadays in some places.

In the higher parts of terraces a little colder they seeded a particular type of plants and in the lower terraces; they planted another kind of vegetables that needed more water and warmer temperatures.

Now you know a bit more about the Incas' terraces.

I definitely missed this Competition, but great job on the work you three did for your submissions.

And, I just wanted to say how incredible it was to see Rolfy and Errant being generous like that. This community really takes care of its own, and it's situations like this which really illustrate that point. Kudos to you gentlemen

Life would be much easier if I had the source code.
