Good, waiting for the screens.

Thanks, still a lot of work to do on this scene, will be even more better. Not good yet at modelling to create some models like this Models are from the 3D Motive Tutorials, I bought it actually.

Ah I see. I am not happy with how this scene turned out...Lighting isn't good at all. In fact its worse after building lighting. Oh well...
I think I should try just a regular city first... Easier inspiration.

The road texture was edited by me. I added the cracks and just improved it a little.

Probably you don't have the right choice of models, so I suggest that you stop working on this scene. I really like how you done road textures, they are the biggest plus in this scene. Find pictures for motivation first, for me the biggest motivation are photos from nature and then you can work on the right way.

Soon I will be posting some more screens from my desert scene.

As I said, here are the new pictures from the newest scene. It's the desert. I had something like 50 good pictures from this scene but of course couldn't post them all
Enjoy.

These are some amazing pictures. The lighting is perfect and how you made the cactus so disperse it really gave the empty desert feeling.

Anyways do you know where I could find a free model pack of anything? I really don't have any money to spend.

Thanks mate, I tried to do my best and I'm pretty happy with the result.
Unfortunately there is really small base of UDK models, so it really helps if you know modelling. So I suggest to you to start learn modeling as fast as you can. I already started week ago and I'm happy with the current result of what I learned so far.

Glad to hear that and Blender is also very nice program. Maybe not for the beginners but as you said you already started one month ago so keep it up with Blender.

I'm using 3Ds Max.
Also even some people contacted me if I want to join their team. That's the reward for the tough job of learning UDK. I didn't accepted any of them yet, but I didn't said no to them. Just don't know what to do know, maybe I will even try to create my own team in few months if I didn't get in any others

Okay sorry for double post but this is how to fix the lighting error I got and if you ever get it you will know how to.

The error says something like this: Warning (models package and name) StaticMesh has invalid LightMapCoordinateIndex.

Step 1: Double click the mesh in the browser menu.
Step 2: Change the Light Map Coordinate Index to -1.
Step 3: Click Mesh/ Generate Unique UVs.
Step 4: Click apply DO NOT CHANGE ANY OF THE NUMBERS!
Step 5: Build Lighting.
Step 6: Celebrate because the lighting is working correctly.

Yeah, it's honor for me. But still I have a lot of new stuff to learn.
And thanks for that info about your error, it could help someone.

No...

Why add it into something that does less? You can't even add it into stuff, it isn't a plugin, it's a full, standalone, professional game creation toolset.

Glad to hear that, I'm tired little bit with all of this hard work in last weeks, but hell no, there is no vacation for me. I must work on something every day xD

Hahaha. Anyways it isn't much to show off yet but I have the doors working now. I was trying to achieve the feeling of being at a very high height from one building into another. Do you think I achieved that feeling?

I want to change the walls on the building as it feels to boring.

Yeah, I think that you achieved that even if you can't see much atmosphere around from this picture. Plan everything earlier than you start the work, it would came even better

Yeah there is great set of tutorials from Bucky, they are great for beginners and you should go through all of them. Believe me you'll know much more stuff after you go through them.

Well, that's pretty small amount if you think to learn much more. That's practically just for the beginners. You'll need to learn months and months and to read books, watch hundreds of tutorials, keep believing that you can learn and that's all

Hey guys, here's a couple of shots of my current UDK project, Vision. I think most of the guys in this thread joined too recently to remember the original Vision, but it was a project that Cowbox and Joeeigel (and me, later on and to a lesser extent) were working on back in 2008. Obviously we're all a lot better at this game dev malarkey than we were back then, and now I'm remaking the project in UDK.

This level isn't final, it's just a test for all the assets I've created. Credit goes to The Slayer for the wall texture!

I'd like to hear people's opinions/crits on it, plus if there's anyone who knows much about scripting in UDK and/or scaleform I'm having some problems getting my custom HUD to work

Then I suppose that you have a lot of experience Bloby? For how much time do you working in UDK?
And the test scene, with your assets and that little robot ( or what is it ) looks very interesting for me.
What's this game about?

I only picked UDK up fairly recently actually, a few months ago but i've been learning the ropes since then. All my experience has been with DBPro before, and my main field is 3D modelling.

Without giving too much away, you are the controller of a new service robot in a secret research facility that takes government/military contracts (or, as cowbox puts it "failing that, a kick ass version of Virgin" ) Similar to black mesa from Half Life, really. After a plasma ignition causes severe damage to the facility, you're left trying to get out and rescue survivors.

I'll probably post a thread for it when it's playable

Few months learning UDK and you already know modelling, that's good stuff. My main task is to learn 3D modelling and I already started.

It's very interesting, can't wait for more screens, videos and of course playing.
Be sure to post here updates until you open your own thread

And there is announcment of video tutorials that I'll be making in future. Unfortunately it's only on my native language, but if there is anyone from Balcan, be sure to check it.

I really love it mate, of course there's a lot of new stuff to do but for now it's really good. You for sure have the style.
In the first picture, the floor textures or static meshes didn't aligned perfectly, so try to sort that out. Everything else looks pretty nice and neat for me. Keep it up
