Hello,

I want to make an animation from movements of a person.

Can anyone recommend a method to do this?

So, I want to take photos or a movie from movements of this person and use them as animation in a game.

What (kind of) camera should I use? Can you recommend one? Video camera, camcorder, high-speed digital compact camera... which one?

And is it better to make an animation from a movie or from a series of photos?

If anyone could help - would be reat!

thank you so much!

Best,

Olaf

AGk animation is still limited to sprite animation where you have multiple images joined together or, you can join them manually and then, play those images in the sprite using sprite animation commands.

images must be ".PNG",".JPG" and it is advised to make it small as
most mobile platforms have limited memory.

my advise to you is don't care much about the camera type. you're better off with a design software.

Some cameras do allow you to take a set of photos in quick succession. I would look out for a camera with that feature.

There are a great deal of resources for this kind of thing on the internet but if you are intent on purchasing something to help with this I would suggest that "Poser" by curious labs can be used to export animation as still images that might suit your needs.

First though I'd hit Google and see what images / resources are out there already. This looks pretty good: http://www.idleworm.com/how/anm/02w/walk1.shtml

...thank you!

yes, i want to take single pics to a sprite.

therfore i am looking for a camera to take photos from a person e. g. - but do not really know which to take.

gopro hero, kodak zx5, casio hispeed cameras (but they only take a serias for 1 second), ...

gopro seems to be oversized...

but as you metioned theese spites must not get too big. so a cheap camcorder might work. take a few frames from the video and build the sprite...

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR COMMENTS!

Best,

Olaf

Jasc animation shop 3 (No longer for sale) has the ability to take a video file and convert it to single images.

I thought about this thread when i went to the electric shop. I couldn't find cheap camera that takes multiple shots. The best one takes 3.9 shots/s and costs around £1300-2000. While you can get a good camcorder between £150-550..

I think a camcorder is better as you can split images later.

basjak, i think you're right.

there are cameras that do about 10 images, but ithink only for 1 second or so.

what looks interesting: gopro hd. very sharp images, up to 60 fps (i know that this is far too much for a sprite, but i can take the best frames from it).

hope to find a shop where i can teest one...

thank you very much!

Get a Flip video camera. They're cheap. And they work very well. Great if you're travelling - they fit in a shirt pocket!
