The first thing I see is that the grendel_destroy.fpi script is not in the scriptbank\viral_outbreak folder. I downloaded viral_outbreak and did a repair but that didn't include the the destroy script so I'm going to remove it and then re-install and see if I can get the destroy script.

So, I would also check to see if the grendel_destroy script is in the folder after you install the official v1.19.

Addendum:

There's more going on than just a missing destroy script. I am going to test all of the viral outbreak characters now and it might be how even the existing scripts are working or not working.

I ran a repair on the Viral_Outbreak_Pack That did not help. I think I will fall back to Beta 9 and check the files. If it is a problem with file handling there might be other problems with other packs.

I don't know if you read my addendum. I checked all of the viral outbreak characters. There may be a combination of how the characters are made and the code. These three characters seem to work OK but I'm not sure (at least they don't freeze or go to a
walking stand still).

Jaws
Medusa Monster
Spiky

Medusa changes colors and disappears so I'm sure this one is working as expected. Jaws and Spiky fell backwards in ragdoll fashion. All of the other besides the above three will freeze in the position that they were at just prior to the destroy script being executed. This could also be when they were walking as well.

The problem is not that new:

People just didn't seem to care much because the Dungeon Pack monsters are seldom used compared to those from bond1's packs

I'll see if I have model pack 23 and check that one out.

I'm not sure why three work and three don't work.

@Storyteller, I looked at the thread and Thraxas didn't have any problems with it and if Lee couldn't verify or duplicate it, then there was not much he could do. However, we can verify the three characters in viral outbreak don't work. I hope I have mp23 but I might buy it just the same.

OK, thanks. I seem to have the characters but I don't know what happened to the scripts. Make sure you have the script.

I tested the Hooked Horror (and the Zombie from the same MP as reference) with the very same map I used the last time and both worked - so 1.19 did something good to those.

I also tested Grendel1 on the same map and it froze for me too, both with the Viral Outbreak appear script and the generic appear2 script, even with the spiky destroy script.

EDIT: MY WRONG! I FORGOT TO SAVE FIRST! with generic appear1, main and destroy scripts the Grendel 1 works again!

Did you have the Grendel destroy script or did you use the generic script?

I'm not sure exactly what scripts you are using. Generic to me are not the viral outbreak scripts.

Exactly - I used The generic destroy.fpi

I am trying to narrow it down right now...

EDIT:
I just tried Grendel1 with his standard (viral outbreak) appear and main scripts and just replacing the destroy script with the generic but that still gave me a freeze.

To make things clearer:

working:
appear1.fpi
main.fpi
destroy.fpi

freezing:
viral_outbreak/appear1-noblobs.fpi
viral_outbreak/grendelmain.fpi
destroy.fpi

freezing:
viral_outbreak/appear1-noblobs.fpi
viral_outbreak/grendelmain.fpi
viral_outbreak/spikydestroy.fpi

You are obviously right that it's not just the destroy script.

I think what bond1 was after was the same thing that happens with Jaws. He falls back on the ground. Suspend is used for Jaws within the jaws_destroy.fpi script.

Yea, it works with a melee script I found in the people folder. I have a feeling it might have something to do with the main script. I am going to start comparing the three: jaws_main, grenel_main and meleemid.

There was one other thing that I was unable to do with the Viral Pack. I thought maybe that pack could not do it but all others do. That is use the if used and spawn a model. I can do it with ww2 or others but not viral outbreak

I don't know if it has anything to do with the model itself or the model`s scripts.

Right now, my brains confused. This happens to me a lot anymore. Has to do with dementia (the synaptic pathways not working as well as the once did). I'm going to have to take a break from this.

Addendum:

I looked at the suspend code in the engine and I can't see why it would have something to do with that. There is a flag for the entity's .ishidden parameter. It is set to "2" and I was trying to trace what happens with that particular flag. Some of it has to do with culling I think but as I said I'm kind of confused right now.

Addendum #2:

God helped me find the problem. Got my synaptic pathways firing again.

It is in the scripts.

I am going to start another thread dealing with viral outbreak scripts. Look for it. You will need to do some editing but I'll try to describe it as easy as possible.

Addendum #3:

Helped me with Grendel, anyway. He's working but still having trouble with the other two.
