Whaaat? No... I started with C++ as a "primary language" (As have many others I know) and we found it to be one of the easiest languages to learn. The only book we ever used was
Sam's Teach Yourself C++ in 10 Minutes a Day, which may seem like a silly title/source, but was actually quite informative. It keeps the lessons simple, and covers only one topic at a time. Then, as the book progresses, it challenges the reader to integrate everything taught so far into one program. I'd recommend it for anyone to start with.
