Hi there,
I love the MP54 and it is an important element in my project.
I came to realize yesterday that there is an issue with a whie or light yellow pixel or dot that appears in the center of the screen with the art created. Easy example melee weapons and non-weapon pick-ups.
I've tried loading the art to find where the issue is and I cannot figure out the where or why.
There really needs to be a fix for this.
This is not something I have altered myself but with the standard art install.
Is there an update that fixes this? I purchased last May so the updates I know about occurred before that.
Thanks for a great pack and please let me know if this is something addressed and fixed.
Thanks!

I think that this white/yellow dot is where the 'crosshair' should be if there was one.
I have supplied a new replacement Image file (crosshair.TGA) in the download here but if you use it please make a 'backup' of the original files before replacing anything.
NOTE - There is a 'Read Me' file supplied in the zip.

Hope this helps.

Hi There,

It could be related to where a crosshair would be, but conceptually it wouldn't make any sense to have a crosshair when picking up a book or a business card, etc.
With the Office Pack collection, weapons like "broom handle" do not have any center screen pixel artifact.

I have tried everything.
If you completely remove all HUD and weapon images from a Scary Thinker weapon, the dot still remains, even if it is just displaying the mesh.

I appreciate your including the crosshair image, I will take a look at it.

Thanks.

Yep, adding an invisible crosshair fixed it.

Thanks so much!

In the FPSC Manual there is a sction which tells you all the files you will require to make your own weapons which includes a 'crosshair' image.
Going on this information,I think that FPSC is hardcoded to look for a 'crosshair' image for all weapons including meelee and 'non' weapons which use the same setup files as a normal weapon would use.
I think the original crosshair file for the Pack was just not spotted (excuse the pun) when finishing the Pack which as I know is easy to do (1x pixel = very small).

Anyways, I'm glad I could help and all the best of luck to you with your Project.

Yes, like Ross tra damus said, that dot is the place where the crosshair should appear, and when you don`t want to have a crosshair, just create a blank square (image) in Photoshop (or Gimp), in size like 64x64 and save it as crosshair.dds (the best format) and voilla!

Since v119, if I read the manual right, you can now turn off the crosshairs instead of having to create an alpha texture.

The reason why I didnt supply a "hidden crosshair" was because having something to aim with makes it easier to interact with certain objects that requires the player to look directly at the object. Like the book in the bookshelf.

But I see that the problem is solved thanks to Ross tra damus
(and Josh as well, I do believe there is a command/gunspec command to hide the crosshair)

I had an idea that you might have left that in for that kind of reason (I do not own a copy of MP 54 so I couldn't check) so I just responded to the Thread with a way to get rid of the Pixel if required by the user. I hope I haven't 'stepped on your toes' in any way and I wish you all the best of luck with your excellent Pack.

Cheers

Dont worry! Sorry if I sounded harsh with my post, but felt that I wanted to tell the story behind the dot
But since english aint my native language, and nor is it perfect, so sometimes the text I write temd to sound like I am an angry viking high on mushrooms :-P

Haha!

Best wishes for you too!
