It started over this past summer. Occasionally, I'd leave my computer on for long periods of time and come back only to find that not only would my IP address be lost, it could not be renewed unless I either unplugged my connection or rebooted. As of late, if I walk away from my computer for maybe an hour, or even when I've just booted it up, I won't be able to connect. I'll click "DarkBASIC Pro Forums" on my links bar - nothing. Then, I'll try mail.com and it'll be fine. What the heck is up with this? Sometimes my IP address can't even be renewed!

Here's the deal. I'm going through a home network...we have a 128K ADSL line split three ways through a netgear router. My dad and brother never have this problem, JUST ME. Any ideas would be appreciated...

just a thought, you got a larger enough power supply to your PC?

Also, is the PC card in right, Is the cable lose?
Do you renew through CMD??

ipconfig /renew

Netgear is cool, also you may want to look for updates to the router firmware which is on their site.

i have noticed the same problem... might actually be where TGC are hosted through... might be to many people on...

i have 1.65mbps cable connection, 800w power supply, AMD 3000+, 1gig ram, and an IP address that has changed only 3 times in the last 2 1/2 years...

so if that is his problem, its strange that it happens to me as well.

I get that too, not exactly sure why ... originally it was because the box sync wasn't perfect, but now it just fails to access - so even though people can access my system externally i can't access outside lines.
After a whilst of flittering with my Firewall and CorrectConnect panel it plings online again.

Haven't got a clue why, but then XP's networking abilities are very queer at times.

It could be XP, but all 3 comps in the house are running it, and only mine is doing it. It may potentially be the power supply, but I won't actually be adble to determine that in full until I re-order my motherboard & ram and switch over to my new case / power supply (for those of you who didn't read about it or forgot, i fried my brand new motherboard and ram, lol).

Thanks for the help guys.
