When FPS Creator back in 2006 were in V1 and v1.04 and that stuff, do you think it looked better than these games? I think FPS Creator has become great with the graphics at all, but sometimes I miss the old V1 stuff, the weapons, when the graphics weren't so good, but they were kinda awesome, and all that stuff?

Like this!

I installed old v1, and updated it to the best update version ( I Think, I know that the newer one added much more amaazing things, but this is my favourite)

So what do you guys think?

I hear what you're saying; back when FPSC creativity was just getting under way. The program was new, and had many people wondering what they could create with it. Hopefully as it continues to grow; developers will continue to take a second look at it, or pick it up for the first time.

Hello all,

When I watched a video about the FPSC for the first time showing how to make a small game level in a few minutes or seconds, with rooms, corridors, weapons and enemies fighting against the player in a so easy way, I think to myself this is amazing all that stuffs at a time I was starting off my studies on video games, and that video was all I was looking for at that time.

Even today I think the FPSC is fantastic into the range of possibilities which the game engine is capable of doing well.

I wanted to make a FarCry 3, a Max Payne 3 or Battlefield 3 like game with the FPSC; however, today I know I shall not be able to do that with the FPSC or any other game engine in the world at least as early as I dreamed.

Of course, I'm kidding, but I believe that nowadays many people willing to starting off in the world of video games will still be absolutely delighted to see how quickly they can make an entire game in FPSC.

That's it!

Regards,

Northern well said I got intrested in game design when I was 7 and I found fps creator it was perfect for me an introduced me to the world of video game design fpsc has brought me far but I am finally moving from it to UDK to create my first real game. Thanks to Fps creator I was able to see what I really want to be when I am older.

Those were the days when folks would come up with workarounds to achieve the things FPSC wasn't designed for. I kind of feel that all the things folks have requested for the engine are making the software more complex for new users to get their heads around, a bit like the users who jump from FPSC to UDK and find they got all the eye candy with a great fps but drop off from it when it comes to creating any kind of gameplay.
The reason I got into this in the first place was the ease with which I could get my stuff in there but have since grown fond of scripting to add to the experience and with a little more study of new features hope to find new ways of creating stuff which is easier to do than getting all bogged down with coding, something really required to create a game in UDK (most companies using it will tell you they had to do this to create a unique game).
Personally I can create a walkthrough or media presentation in a more complex engine than this easily (I was using Unreal Ed before finding FPSC) but there is juat something about this wee engine that I love

Awesome! Its one of those threads.

Perhaps the fact that it comes with your amigos- the Foxes, Cosmic Pinhead, and Mr X?

That's exactly the same with me, and the stage I'm at right now, with the help and encouragement of the likes of Nbt (where is Nbt BTW? Haven't seen him around for ages), Anayar, Scene Commander and BlackFox

Even though the initial awe wears off, I still mess around with FPSC on a regular basis. Granted, it takes a lot of work to make something awesome, but making something simple is fast and gratifying. The only real issue I had with V1 was that you couldn't save/load, the rest you could work around.

As for all the love stuff.....

I may moan about it a lot at the moment but I do love FPSC and that prob why I moan so much.

I think the best version was v1.15 for me and the days when I created Project Blue performance mod at the time.

I made some good friends from this forum and I might not be as active as I used to be but will def keep coming back.

Hard to imagine how the new comers would react to not having the save/load feature like we had in v1. Bet they would appreciate what they currently have now.

oldman vs. foxes, round 1. DING! first knockdown after 2 seconds.

as i only can speak of myself as a totally coding-noob, i like the implementing of the newest features, gives noncoders (but able to script-) people a wider range of actions to create a unique game. i started with 1.17 to 1.18 where so much stuff is already in there, but some important things missing so get up with waspmod. simply the hardcoded extras, posteffect-change and the gravity-gun-features are something you can use to create something totally special (even with the fact that the fpsc-physics still sucks). i cant imagine how anyone doesnt like to be able to create more than simple standard hallway-shooters. the simple fact that you now can use waspmod-features and in addition, an additional mod like rpg or blue is totally awesome for creating new things.

@gutsplatt: same as for everything else in life: firstttime is most the best in mind, never reached afterwards. but its just a mind-trick, your brain only remembers good aspects of a thing after a certain amount of time to protect your psyche. remember v1 and think of how often you collapsed in front of your machine, cursing fpsc for instability or missing things?
