First of all, Welcome to the Forum.

Have you checked in the FPSC 'Preferences' (File\Preferences)?

I have attached a screenshot which you can look at.
The 'red' circles highlight the settings you should check for good visuals.

Good Luck

Try to post JPEG files rather than bitmaps. People generally dislike having to download the large bitmap image files.

Here's how to convert them.

Change the lines in [GAMEMAKE]:

lightmaptexsize=512 to lightmaptexsize=1024

lightmapquality=5 to lightmapquality=40

You can try different values for the 'lightmapquality' to suit yourself and the performance of your PC (NOTE - I have mine set to 100 but I would not recomend going over this value).
This also helps to get great\better shadows in game.

The 'lightmaptexsize' is the size of the textures mapped (512x512, 1024x1024).
The value '1024' should work very well for you.

Sorry, I should have said all this in my first post.

Good luck and let us all know how you get on with this.

Hello friend,

I know what is your problem, it`s related to the widescreen format.

FPSC does not support yet widescreen resolutions (1366x768, i.e, which is my notebook native resolution).

FPSC will stretch the image to fit the screen, even if you set 1024x768 in setup.ini.

While in other games, Half Life 2, in example, we have a option to use widescreen resolution, this means that field of view that will be rendered in a widescreen resolution is bigger than the field of view of a strandart resolution.

I think this is a problem that MUST be solved.

However, i found a workarround for this, at least for testing my games. I use a program called Display Changer.

You can download it free from:

http://12noon.com/

I think that some videocards have an option on the driver settings to force specific resolutions (in this case 1024x768) for specific programs. But on my nividia settings i could not find it (i think ATI videocards can do it).

So if in your driver settings you can not find this option, use this program, Display Changer.

Download and read the instructions, an then you just need to create links on your desktop that point for the FPSC-Game.exe using the configurations passed by this program Display Changer.

This is the link i use on my desktop to run FPSC-Game.exe (test game) with the resolution 1024x768:

Target: "C:\Program Files\12noon Display Changer\dc64.exe" -width=1024 -height=768 "G:\Program Files (x86)\The Game Creators\FPS Creator\FPSC-Game.exe

Start in: "G:\Program Files (x86)\The Game Creators\FPS Creator\"

So whenever you make your map in FPSC and you click on Test Game, you wait until the FPSC Build your map, and then you DON`T click on Test Game (ok), you close FPS Creator, and click on the link you created on your desktop that points to the FPSC-Game.exe using the program Display Changer.

This is a provisory workarround, but is enough to solve this problem.

Cheers,

007.

Try placing this into a script:

or if that doesn't work:

or if that one looks weird:

That should fix widescreen problems on the 1366x768 resolution.

I find this not true as you would have to manually set the resolutions via the setup.ini. However, it wouldn't work in test game as it's locked at 1024 x 768. So it would work for built games. This is what I do....

Go into your setup.ini file and find these lines:

width=1024
height=768

depth=32
aspectratio=0

Change it into something like this:

width=1366
height=768

depth=32
aspectratio=1

Quote: "lightmaptexsize=512 to lightmaptexsize=1024

lightmapquality=5 to lightmapquality=40"

Personally, I think 1024 is too much and could take longer for the light mapping process. But has stated, set it to whatever you may want to.

Also I think it would be best for Kuko to show us his system specs as the shaders could be due to the video card not supporting PS 2.0...

open editor, go to file>buildgame and file>preferences. go through it and set texturequality max and lightmappiing max in both. standardreset after update is maximizing only to speed not quality.

Try loading up the metro theater showcase .fpm map and run a test game. See how it looks with that.

Try updating your video card drivers and updating direct X.

Also check to see if Full Screen Shaders is turned ON.

Check your Nvidia control panel and try turning all the 3D stuff to quality or something just to see.

I repeat my dear friend, believe me, download the software Display Changer and test.

I do it, i have the exactly same problem with me, the secret is that you must force your video card to run FPS Creator at 1024x768, because this resolution is hard coded in the engine, and even when changing it (resolution) in the setup.ini, it will not solve this problem.

I don`t know if this latest release of FPSC it works, however i am using V 1.19 Beta 7 and FPSC only runs at 1024x768 and if you are using other resolutions, FPSC will stretch to the screen resolution.

Try this software (Display Changer), and see the results:
