Hello,
My name is Robert Thurman,
I am currently working on a design for a online virtual tabletop game,
The game is to be played with 2 or three players online,
The game will have a similar feel to battlechess 3d, and will depict a typical tabletop war game, an example of the sort of background and models the game will have are shown below.

I sadly can not afford to pay anyone as of yet, but I would still like to see the sort of costs involved in programming such a game, and I would like to know also if there is any 3d modellers out there who would be willing to work privately with me through Skype, so that I can get an idea of the type of work and cost for models and scenery for the game.

This way I can try and arrange some sort of funding for the game.

Plea

If you think you could may know anyone who is interested in learning about the project, or you would be interested in learning the details of the project, can you please e-mail me at [email protected]

Thanks for your time.

@robert. why don't you try to buy ready models. the internet is full of websites that sell models. buy it and modify what you want to suit your game.

best example is the game creators FPS models:

or I like this web site too:

Also, for 3D models you could try

http://www.turbosquid.com

Some of the free models are fantastic quality. Yesterday I grabbed a hammer and 4x4 both fully textured and a base mesh for a human figure all for free.

@Robert Thurman, what exactly is your input into the project?

What have you done so far?

How long did that model take you to make? Looks pretty complicated.

Was the photo taken at "Games Workshop"?

For someone to make a game on your behalf, it either takes a lot of personal commitment (an idea they buy into for themselves), or it takes a lot of money to pay them. Programming a proper game takes hundreds (if not thousands) of hours. The fact that you're asking the question means you didn't understand that yet, which is fine.

Almost everyone here who does programming holds more ideas in their heads than completed games. We are frustrated game designers who have nobody to code our games for us, so we do it ourselves.

Better get cracking and learn how to program your game idea. At least you've come to the right place for that!

I can't think of a better place to learn programming actually. Game designers need at least a basic understanding of programming anyway in order to have realistic goals.

The community here will definitely help you to get started and there are lots of free tutorials and examples too!
