Hello, after a break of several months, i'm back on business !

It's a medieval project that i've begun during last summer ( If i remember correctly ), i've haven't found any title yet and the storyline is being written ( not completed ), especially the background is finished.

I'm writing story while i'm making the maps.

My first aim is to release the game in an episodic format, like 10-12 chapters of one hour ( at least ) each.

My project isn't a classic FPS, because melee fighting and spellcasts ( not used by the player ) will be proeminent. Also, several dungeons will contain puzzles.

I will try to put action in background in favor of ambience.

I've also founded a little team ( sort of, because their help is only punctual )

The team consists of:

Myself ( Small 3D props, story writing, effects, texturing and level design )
Will91 ( a beginner, she's doing Some rooms of the levels )
CyberChris ( animation & rigging, When necessary )

As you can see, we don't have any scripter for the moment be we don't need one for now.

What I'm planning :

* Shader Effects ( specularity, normal mapping, heat haze ( VERY work in progress ), dynamic shadows for characters, glowies and more )
* New health system by Doomster ( like in Max Payne or F.E.A.R )
* Puzzling & riddles based on observation
* A wide range of characters
* Dark and dirty feeling in most dungeons
*Detailed Architecture ( a lot of curves and arches )

The beginning

You play a un-named ranger who was imprisoned by mistake, during your release goblins and orcs storms the prison, killing everyone, that's when you fly with a guard in subterranean secret caves, but in your haste, a landslide separates you from him and you have no choice but to continue alone.

Looks great, I love the feel you have created. That first shot would make a great menu backdrop.

I look forward to seeing the finished project.

thank you, skyrim, so you entered our minds and initiate a new wave of affectation that floods over the hordes of nazizombies.
wash them away and clean the boring stupidity off the fps-games so we can move on into a shiny new world beyond zombieland,
right into... a bunch of zombieknights

i dont hope so. ^^

looks nice so far.

@Maho. Lol! Zombieknights would be interesting. But still, they're zombies. It's been done.

@RelMayer, game's looking great so far. Looking forward to seeing more of this.

@Maho
i must admit that i've never played to
Skyrim

Oh btw i don't like zombies, we see them in nearly all games since three years, and i think it's boring.

As you can see, the leveldesign is inspired by Oblivion, other places will be inspired by Kaamelott, a French comic tv series.

Thank you all !

@Beno09,
I would like, but my pc is very old.

Sort of a crypt

A crude water effect made with a glass shader. ( Made by Will91, i've teached her how to do some tricks with shaders )

A stone guardian, well not really 'cause they'are acting like zombies, but they're made of stone anyway.

looking good, as to skyrim after playing that i gave up almost as what is the point making a game so inferior to the awesomeness of skyrim and oblivion.
but just in the last week i picked up a game called legend of grimrock, thoroughly enjoying it and liking it more than skyrim.
it re-taught me that each game that is done well will beat or equal any major title its not just about graphics. im so enjoying playing grimrock more than skyrim, i think i can almost create that genre of game. so do keep up with this and do not let skyrim put you off,as it did me.

an unquenchable thirst for knowledge of game creation!!!

Now this is just the kind of game (Theme) which I love so much which isn't explored enough in these modern times with modern Warfare games taking preference.
I realy like those room segments with the curved ceilings for the passageways which add to the general ambience of the game so far.

I too will be looking out to see the progress you make with this.

I wish you all the very best of luck.

Thank you all !

@Ross,
Yeah, zombies and "good troopers vs bad terrorists" games are boring.

Hi there, yes i'm inspired by The Elder Scrolls game series.

Offtopic, but I've created a moddb page here :
http://www.moddb.com/games/tales-from-the-kingdom-of-tears/#2957245

And I would update the ModDB page rather than this thread because i've made a better showcase of the project.
What do you think of this, what should i do ?

Use exclusive content on both, moddb and here with us, and say that, also on both sides. that will raise traffic on both your sides wich results in higher rankings and at the end in better publicity.

Ok, thank you for the advice.

Here's an extended storyline bit.

In a kingdom about to fall into darkness and oblivion, a young elvish huntress called Kaë will rise to save the kingdom of a certain doom which will be occured by the Four Hellhunters, who are powerful demons forgotten since too long.

You are a huntress born and raised in Arcania, which is one of the most largest provinces of the empire of Brightsilver, it has a lot of population and a high education rate ( provided by various wizards and monks ).

The main character herself is born from the "union" between a demon and a elve woman, he raped Kaë's mother, who were forced to carry in her womb a "unpure" and "demoniac" offspring, sixteen years after Kaë's birth, her mother commited suicide. Left to her own, Kaë decided to wander throughout the four continents, aimlessly.

Shortly after the death of the emperor Cicero Ambrosius, the Country of Tears and the Duchy of Mournhold ( which are both ruled by the nephews of the defunct emperor ) are respectively became the Kingdom of Tears and the Kingdom of Wolfsbane.

Since some time, the ruler of the Kingdom of Tears , Perseus, acts strangely, he's regularly organizes expeditions to find old relics of the Netherworld, an unusually long autumn has descended upon the kingdom, and hideous creatures of unknown origin attack several villages, killing women and children and enslaving men, the fugitives are even brutally dismembered or skinned alive.

It's also said horrible rumors about huge winged creatures who practice black magic and devour the survivors in order to nourish themselves.

Why these events happen ?
What do they mean ?

Only you can find the answer.
