I'm sure others have their own solutions for getting rid of BIN/DBO files, but I thought I'd share mine for ease of use.

Just place this small .exe in your root FPS Creator folder and run it, it will place a small icon in your system tray. At any time, pressing the hotkey "WIN+b" will clean all bin and dbo files, useful for model pack creators and troubleshooting.

It's a nice quick one-handed solution using an easy to reach hotkey. You can also place a shortcut in your Windows startup folder to have it launch automatically when Windows starts.

EDIT:v1.01 Now ignores bin/dbo files in the "MyGames" folder.
EDIT:v1.02 Now displays a brief 'running' message as soon as hotkey is pressed.
EDIT:v1.03 Changed the message boxes to look identical.

SPECS: Windows7 x64, Intel Core i7 920, Geforce GTX 580, 6GB RAM

Works great. Good idea to have the window pop up to notify all the BIN/DBO files were deleted for the user.

Thanks for the download.

Although I've got into the routine of using FPS Cleaner everytime I edit and save a map, this will be usefull for deleting those files almost 'on the fly' so to speak. Thanks.

No problem guys.

Yes, I wanted to have visual confirmation as well. Also, the pop up confirmation window will close itself after 3 seconds, so you don't HAVE to click on it; so it really doesn't require any interaction - just hit WIN+B and move on.

Funny you mention that. I saw the pop-up just as I went to grab a cup of coffee. I came back and it was gone. I asked my three year old "did you touch my computer?". "No, daddy" was the reply. I had to run it again only to discover it closes automatically thus vindicating the boy.

Hey guys, you may want redownload the tool again from the first post, I made one small change.

It now ignores the bin/dbo files in the "My Games" folder, which is probably what most users want.

A great offering.

Could I suggest a 'running' message box at the start, when I first ran it I thought it wasn't working.

Still, it's great

Done! Nice suggestion, it now displays a brief 'running' message as soon as the hotkey is pressed, so you know it's doing something.

Updated download on first post.

Bond1

I know its late but I just tested the 'cleaner' for the first time and think it works perfectly because its so easy to use and saves so much time.

For me its a 'Super' handy tool and I'd like to thank you again for sharing this with us.

Maybe it could be incorperated with following FPSC 'Upgrades'?

Thanks Bond!

I remember when Lee whipped up the cleaner for the updates.
Having a hotkey for the DBO/BIN cleaning funciton will be very handy when editing.

Thanks
