I am having trouble using a model from the DarkMatter2 pack. I've tried loading the object, texturing it, and then looping its idle animation, frames 0 to 80. But, in my game, it shows up still and is not moving at all. It animates fine in the dm2 media browser. Can anyone help?

Try setting the animation speed to something rediculous, like 10,000 or something, it might be the speed, or it might be that the frames are scaled by 200. If the frames are scaled, you should multiply the frame numbers by 200, so you might want to try something like:

LOOP OBJECT 1,80*200
SET OBJECT SPEED 1,10000

It's hopeless. When i make a simple program that does nothing but attempt to load and loop the object through its idle animation, with some bizarre changes of the numbers I can make it semi work, but if I repeat the same exact thing and place it in my game, it still doesn't work. Argh.

I think I'll just skip the darkmatter and change the alien textures just a bit and make enemy aliens instead of using a zombie. At least I know the alien works.

Have you tried any other animations with your code?
It could be that there are no movements in the idle animation.

Make a little test program to simply check the number of frames, and set the frame depending on the MouseX() variable, that way you'll see exactly what the animations are. You'd calculate it something like:

FRMLIM#=object frames(objno)*1.0

do
FRMNO#=mousex()/screen width()
FRMNO#=FRMNO#*FRMLIM#
SET OBJECT FRAME objno,FRMNO#*FRMLIM#
text 0,0,str$(FRMNO#)
sync
loop

I'm using several darkmatter models atm and it works fine.
I use this code for the walking loop animation for example:

All the models, inc the zombie work fine.
