Hello!

I was wondering if there was a way for one to run their test games in 1920x1080 resolution.

If there is a way to input this setting into the ini code or something that would be great.

If this is not possible then nevermind this thread!

Thank's guys!

I'm not sure, but I think you'd need to edit the source code to do that.

I read in the forums that you if change the resolution in the setup.ini in the FINAL game compilation the resolution will change. I tried it and it did nothing. Maybe I did something wrong. I would like to know if this is possible as well. Thanks

Hello folks,

Yes, this is a problem, a great problem.

I also tried, and NOT, FPSC runs hard coded in the resolution 1024x768. Or better, FPSC runs hard coded on the current screen resolution, however, if your resolution is bigger than 1024x768, FPSC will stretch the screen to fit your desktop resolution, so, if you use a widescreen resolution (like 1366x768, my notebook resolution), you will get a very ugly visual, the huds will be pixelated, and such.

However, if you want to overcome this, i by myself use a program that forces any aplication to run on a determined resolution (i.e, it will change your desktop resolution to run the game).

This is the software (is free):

http://12noon.com/

Display Changer 4.3.2

So with this software i always force my FPSC-Game.exe (which is the test game exe) to run on 1024x768.

So after i click on test game, i don`t run it, instead, i close fpsc, and run the FPSC-Game.exe using this software Display Changer.

This is a provisory workarround, however, this way you will see your games in the best visual resolution.

Cheers,

007.

not possible for testgame, but finalbuild game is easily changed in setup.ini, look for height=x and width=x (depth=4-32 is color depth). logically the 3d-objects are not pixelbased, so they are recalculated in higher resolution correctly. only thing not that good is that fpsc calculates the finalgame in 1024x768, so huds will be stretched (and get pixelated) when choosing a higher resolution.

maho76: Yes, you are right, FPSC calculates the huds on 1024x768, so because this as my notebook`s native resolution is 1366x768 i had to use that software to change (force) the display resolution of my notebook to 1024x768 when running FPSC tests.

wolf: Yes, i even think that running a game at 1024x768 gives a smooth visual while maintaining a fast gameplay with good framerates. I know this, because, in example, when i play counter strike, if i choose higher resolutions i see a framerate drop, and almost all my PC Games i run them at 1024x768.

By the way, i always wanted to congratulate you, dear wolf, by your awesome work on FPSC. I have seen your games, always, and i noted that you take FPSC Visuals to the highest levels. You really know how to create an awesome FPSC Game, and as it was said before, you make FPSC Games look awesome.

I hope my 007 fan game be so "eye candy" like your games.

Cheers,

007.

framerate doesnt drop when choosing bigger resolutions on modern systems because fpsc doesnt force a gpu to its limits, even not to 50%. it gives a 100% on the cpu, but you have enough reserve on modern gpus. progames dont do this, they calculate graphics via gpu, so framerate with lower resolution is better.

in fpsc-games resolution doesnt matter with a (near)-modern machine, and game looks much better in higher resolution simply because of more space for color depth, even with stretched HUDS, believe me.

maybe its a problem for laptops with internal gpu, but not for other machines.

Okay guys, the bottom line here seams to be that you cannot run the test game in 1920x1080, but you can modify the file in the build game folder to play in that resolution.

Is this right?

You try messing with the aspectratio setting in the setup.ini? More specifically, the one under the [GAME DEBUG] section (which is apparently 0 by default)
