To any TGC member who sees this, I would suggest changing the new website layout for FPSC to say "Game making for adults" or "mature" instead of "teens". FPSC is rated M, and this could get you guys in a lot of trouble. EA got a bad rap for advertising Dead Space 2 to teens, even though it was rated M. I would suggest you don't repeat their mistake.

well when your 18 and have an ID and can buy M rated games your still a teen, 19 your still a teen, thus "teens" applys

same with xbox live or buying games off the internet for download (which TGC has an option to)

you dont need an ID for those, it doesnt matter how old you are if your buying from the internet, they arnt going to ID you or do a background check on you and get you in trouble if your under 18, the only way it would apply is if it were in a retail store buying a game physicly or if TGC sold their stuff in retail stores which i beleive they do not

and parents buy this stuff for them too

so in conclustion, this needs no attention

The point is that they're advertising it as something for teens, when in fact many users are adults.

On top of that, FPSC isn't a game, so...

The fact that you need to be 18 yrs to apply for a credit card or open a paypal account says otherwise.

It may not BE a game but they still required an ESRB rating to sell in stores due to the media content and the fact it is used to create games, yes it does sell in stores..

Personally I feel they shot themselves in the foot as marketing this way will put many adults off it thinking its for kids.

If they do then its not TGC's responsibility, its the parents.

Awesome! Its one of those threads.

When I saw this on the main site I wondered how FPSC users would take it, I started out on FPSC when I was 30 something...

I would say that they are trying to show a progression system in game making but maybe going about it the wrong way. I would prefer something like:
the 3D Game Maker - Game Making for beginners
FPSC - Next level Game Making

What do you guys think?

Unless they're secretly working on "FPSC Advanced" to rival the likes of Unreal Engine... you never know...

Now I never considered that!

The problem is where to go if you use the Kids / Teens thing?

FPSC Advanced - for Adults?

Sounds a bit dodgy to me

I guess it would have to be:

FPSC Advanced - for Grown-ups

Which makes anything else sound lame anyway...

OMG FPSC Advanced would be B0$$

it would be like FPSC X9 but with DX11 and more features like:
driving
flying
talking
interaction with the AI charecters

like basicly all the mods that have been made with the FPSC X9 engine on the forums, its would like bulk it all together

but then maybe it wouldnt be DX11 cause of everything already made with X9 it would be so much work and set people back loads of money for the new model packs and stuff and just buying it, and with all the X9 mods in it would make the engine supreme to other game engines and then more people would buy cause of all the extensive already built in features, but that would be one hell of a instruction manual to come up with

AND a way bigger map layout
like 10x bigger then the FPSC X9 map level layout space
and no memory cap, unless your computer cant handle the awesomeness its loading for test game or accual game

SOOO
FPSC X9: Advanced Fisrt Person Game Creation Station

It's the Internet. In order to buy something, they have to enter some sort of card number. Do parents just let their children blindly spend money? Because I'm pretty sure that if I had a child and they were spending money on the internet, I'd be ticked. So the child actually gets PERMISSION to buy the software. And if children buy in the store, the store people don't sell M games for kids. The parents have to buy it. So either the parents don't care, or they approve of it. To your advertising problem, maybe "FPSC- Higher level gaming"

Dunno. This is what happens when you get bored on the forums.

Make it so.

ähm in germany you can buy fpsc x9 and x10 when you are 16! so you are a teen in germany and in other countries! and if you make a fpsc advance, in germany it is maybe for teens too, because you need a lot of work to create games which are for adults!

Yes, i´m a noob, but i like it

calling for teens is always a pikachu in mind.^^

so pegi-buttons and level it up from beginner to pro would be the better way.

when parents are so lame that they dont get anyway into the things the kids do dont recognize pegi-buttons, they are bad parents acting brainless and without care for their kids. see it every day, sorry for all who feel offended now its good to do so, think of it, no excuses here when its about the kids, talking with them about things like fpsc only takes 15 minutes to get the point, not much time... no, by far too less when communicating about time-intense and creative hobbies like this.

just my 2 cents.

Just a friendly reminder to all (just in case) not wander off topic with arguments about teens.

Does anyone also notice that all the images in that picture are from FPSC x10. Something TGC has discontinued and left to die? False advertising anyone?

It's now been changed to "Explosive Game Making" (although the banner at the top still says "Game Making for Teens )
