I bought FPS Creator X9 the other day - I have installed it by itself - it opens fine. I downloaded the v1.19 upgrade & I get two nessages:

1. - "FPSC-MapEditor cannot write to the program files area. Ensure you have UAC switched off and you are running as an administrator user."

I then get a message saying there is a problem & program needs to close.

The only way FPSC will open & work now is if I run it as administrator, which is pretty frustrating.

Anyone have any clues how to solve this? I have uninstalled & reinstalled a couple of times.

Background info: the first time I installed program and V1,19 update - it all worked. My son wanted to try FPSC X10 & I bought that as well, installed it - but he now would rather stay with X9 version. Since I installed the X10 version - I have had problems with the X9 - and after uninstalling everything and starting again, I am still having the above problem with the X9 version.

Bit of a loss on how to fix it, any ideas?

I encountered the second picture problem randomly but quite frequently on my old computer (Windows Vista) but my new one is Windows 7 and it works perfectly. But I didn't have FPSCx10.

That is all i can think of, hope it helped.

Good luck with making games

Hello Idillic,

I do not think the problem you have reported is because you have installed FPSC X10, since I have both installed on my computer and work fine within their limitations.

I do not know what operating system (Vista x86-x64; Windows 7 x64 or x86-x64 platforms) you are working on, but the best thing to doing is once again uninstall the FPSC X9, restart your computer and install it again.

Next you should upgrade to version 1.18.017 not the release 1.19. XX because it is yet a bit unstable. Now it's time to run the program FPSCreatorCleaner.exe as administrator.

Following that, on the icon of the FPS X9 right-click, the mouse button and click on the run as administrator. Case the software works nice. It's done. Case it still does not work to properly try install or reinstall the directx 9c which you can find it on the link below.

Next step is reboot your computer and run the FPS X9 as administrator. If it works well, it's done, otherwise you should contact technical support of the TGC and asking for a solution.

I hope this information may help you.

Good luck!

just as an adition to northern“s post: problem is that windows doesnt allow writing into windows-folder (c:programs) if you are not an admin, so you have to run it in admin-mode.

To fix this, you simply do what the error says, disable UAC (User Account Control) search Google to find out how to do this.
