Introduction

Welcome to my world...again...and...ehm, for the second time. You know the drill, I will post random images in order to improve my level design, They dont have any story behind them, well...some do, but that's not important, I will start using this as a /Portfolio/ of some sorts for my level design, dumping segments and free media too!

Screenshots

-This belongs to a project I started long ago, it was called "Seekers", A few days ago I started playing a few horror games like Amnesia, and started looking at photo sites, so I decided to overhaul it's look-

-This belongs to a random level design project by me, It's a scifi level, almost done, this is the first room, some sort of office-

Final Words

I enjoy TGC, and I hope I become more active from now on, give me a hug and welcome me back! Expect loads of screenies soon.

Actually, Bloom is what I tried at first, completely killed the scene in my opinion.

Any intrest in any of the pictures in particular? "Seekers" are basicly a melt down of "Anomaly", another game of mine, it's highly inspired by SH2 and other games of that like.

If you have any feedback or would like to see more, tell me!

while the atmosphere is nice and the lighting is well done, the final screenshot, the doorframe is much bigger than the door.

There are two doors, one has collapsed, the other one is lightly attached. Also, testing bounce lights.

they have some sort of oil-painting look, i like them. but i think the structure/texture on the walls in the first and second post is "overacting"^^, has so much detail that it eats some objects around.

welcome back.

Loving the new design you are opting for! It feels like it came from a Silent Hill game!

But like Bugsy mentioned, the door frame is wider than the door. But if it is a double door, then why is the door facing that direction? Feels very unnatural in my opinion.

Always been a fan of your texture work!

Hello! You remember me? No?... Well... :c

Hehe, tried a more modern-esque apartment look, mostly for lightning, don't like it that much, still on the testing grid!

In higher res.

My shadows are so blurry, anyone knows why?

Adddendum

I should add, my "Lightmapquality" is set to 128, and the other settings; what Wolf recommended in his Light-mapping tutorial.

Actually, here in Pakistan, we still have these fluorescent lights in homes and apartments!

Looking good DJ! But why is there a gap/line in between the segments behind the cupboard?

I just wanted to write that even the Mariott in Mumbai has some social rooms with this kind of light

I went for a more realistic approach, in my apartment, some furniture are slightly away of the walls!

I think he meant the black line going down the wall.
Anyways, nice work James!

New apartment scenery - I do hope this is pleasant, aesthetic, to the eye, I used amazing Rolfy's doors, which seem just fitting with the scenario.

some of the most atmospherically rich, expressive screenshots that fpsc's seen thus far not overdetailed falling into an uncanny valley, but just looking decorated enough to really express the essence and mood of the place. good work, however, I don't care what people say, I will always think industrial fluorescent lights in a living space just looks plain bad. it's not too distracting though.

What would you think would make a good replacement? I just think a 40's or maybe 70's apartments would use one big light, and it being a rather "Poor" apartment building, would exhibit what I think it's portrayed.

My project's corridors of "Hollowridge Apartment Building", northwest of St. Stanton. [The "Location" of the apartment building inside the game, in the town of Vallen Creak] So to the screens.

C & C welcome, this is only a test of the segments, either way, and a few retextures and so.

Very nice, very creepy.

Looks great Darkjames, I hope you get to finish it and we get to play it.

All the best of luck

EDIT - I love the colour scheme with those washed out shades of colour.

I like the grayscaled thing better, much more SH-esque in my opinion.

Thanks guys, I'm working on more textures, The apartment ones were a true butt-pain.

Hopefully, I can expand on the apartments soon.

I like the second better. The first seems a little too bright for a creepy feel. But, it is whatever you wish.

Astek, could you add me on Skype or MSN? I would like to ask you some stuff. [Not requests or anything] And, I'm still thinking which one will fit the investigation scheme I'm following, I want to add some creepy feel to it, but not overdo it.

Addendum

I am very impressed by this work, eerily atmospheric and seems to be improving as you move along, is this for a game your creating or do you intend to release the media?

If its for your game I may have some stuff other than those doors you could use and you would be welcome to it.

Awesome! Its one of those threads.

@Rolfy

These are for a game I'm developing, although I may release the media in the short future, should I have no more use for them, but for now, they do are in my project, feel free to email me.

My email is right down by my profile. [Albeit I use Gmail {Same adress, just swapping hotmail for gmail} I can still receive emails in my hotmail.]

A small update; I have began working on a small SCP game, basing around a few SCPs [Not 173, but a few of them] It will be a small mini-game that will be released very soon, or as soon as I can get full onto level design again.
