I need to start learning how to do my own Tier1 on Mac / iOS, so now I have a mac lion 10.7.3 running.

Should I get Xcode 3, or 4? What goes best with AppGameKit?

Hi Impetus73,
just follow the "Creating the byte code" and "Building Your Own Mac Application" steps of this guide: http://www.appgamekit.com/documentation/guides/51_mac.htm

I've try it just a few minutes ago and works well for me, I'm using snow leopard 10.6.8 with XCode 3.2.6.
If you haven't got XCode already installed, try installing a more updated version than me, maybe XCode 4 or so.

Good luck!

I work with Xcode 4 (I think Apple prefers that you use the most recent stuff).

Have you registered with Apple as a developer yet? That is required if you want to publish with them. And it is a separate license for Mac and iOS.

Since Xcode 4 is a bit different than Xcode 3, I've updated the the iOS instructions (I haven't done the Mac one):

The rest of the iOS guide has lots of good information about various bits like signing certificates that are important.

I found that once I had it set up for iOS, the Mac setup was pretty simple.

Thanks Ancient Lady, I followed your recipe for the Xcode 4, and got my app running on my iPad3, but the sprites were not transparent, all had black backgrounds... hmm.. I guess the iPad does not recognize my PNG's transparent background?

Hmm.. did not help to load the images with the ,1 for black transparancy.

Another error, is that the Ad is showing in the right place, but nothing happens when I touch it, but when I touch where the Ad would be in portrait mode, it opens the browser.

Seems like the iPad needs alpha channel for transparency in PNG
s, so I added one, and voila! no more black backgrounds.

Now, if I only could get the touch field for the ad to behave...
