Has anyone had this issue where the music does not play (even in demo's supplied with AGK). The sound effects work fine, but there is no sound when a music file supposed to be playing.

Only really on android, and then, only when using the getmusicplaying() command to check if the music is playing or not. Otherwise no issues here.

Thanks for all your replies, the music is mp3 and in windows vista, it's when I am playing with the sound demos, the fx play fine, I will have a look at my codec.

Thanks again.

I remember reading an older thread on this same issue, where the recommended fix was to uninstall the "Nokia Suite" (formerly "Nokia Ovi Suite", and before that the "Nokia PC Suite").

Somehow the Nokia Ovi Suite messes up the default MP3 DirectShow filter in Windows. The specifics of the cause were unknown.

Uninstalling Ovi Suite solved the problem.

So, do you have the Nokia Ovi Suite installed?

If you answer, yes - and if you want to keep using the Nokia Ovi Suite - AND you want to have music in your AppGameKit app on Windows, the quick&dirty workaround would be to convert the MP3 to a WAV. (I don't really want to even offer conversion as an option. It would be preferable that AppGameKit had built-in MP3 and OGG decoders.)

Cheers,
AgentSam
