I went to the demos thread and I tryed to download most all of them on the front page, most all are missing links,or there are problems with the sites as our goverment closed down megaupload,so,my question is this, should we post our demos on our own sites? I think so.

If I was a big company looking for new prospects, and I came here to look for a new artist,I would be turned off by all the dead links and no one is posting there own demos for download on there own web sites.

Even the best of the best thread has many dead links and sites that say you must be a member to download this file.

Hey DW...

I host files on my own site for the very reason and a lot of peeps on here use useless free sites which die down after some time... And that is a real shame...

I also try to offer storage space but everybody is reluctant for whatever reason... So frankly its a minefield of an issue...

But yeah... I am happy to host quality materials which do bot contain copyrighted content...

But the product MUST be worth it... Ahh this is the FPSC board... Lol...

Also an alternative is to create a dropbox account for each game or project... Giving upwards of 2GB to toy with...

If the download links don't work, then that falls on the developer to update them, whether they host on their own site or some other file share site. If they don't, then they lose out on potential users that wish to buy their games.

Besides, most I've seen here are a few demos. Not much for full games are getting completed, so there really is not anything to worry about. For those of us that do finish full games either advertise them elsewhere or don't feel the need to publish on a forum about it.

Yea,I know,And I think if you are to speend the time to make any game, let it avalible,it reminds me of resident evil. When I was a kid, resident evil was more of a free text adventure, but,it was avalible for the whole world.I played my heart out, loved it,but then, after it became popular in its little state, then the creator decided to sell the future games making him well, well known.

@MrValentine

This is a good service you are doing,I might also take you up on this soon.

And again, I fail to see the need or understand what the fuss is about. I will reiterate again. Most of the developments here usually end in a mysterious hard drive crash, have an issue during the famous FPSC next-release-upgrade, or end up being dropped. I have yet to see one completed game done within the last year with no issue(s) mentioned, with the exception of the ones we have completed and sold.

I will use this as another example. I know of a few people that have developed media (i.e. packs), receiving praise from people and getting comments such as "I can't wait for the release of this..." or "I'm going to buy this...". Once the pack is released, it may get one or two sales, not the expected amount based on the posts the author received. So, in respect to that, why would anyone that finishes a full game want to post it here on a forum where they may be told during the WIP or showcase that people can't wait to buy and yet face the same disappointment as those that create media for sale? I can also use completed games in this example. I know of a couple developers that advertised their game here, only to be either- a)picked apart because those that criticized it felt their opinion had any weight (and those criticizing have never released anything themselves); b)understood that the majority here are young and sales would not be as expected.

Your comment may work for those that produce free media. For those that sell media or games at a low price, it just does not work. It is time consuming to make media and games for sale, and there is a small amount of people that understand/respect this. There is also a large amount of people that want it/expect it all for free. Hence why some of us do not advertise here at all and keep our media or games on our own site.

Ditto " agree with Mr Black Fox "

PS: Daniel wright 2311, try their email, some do work and some actually will provide a link. However you will find most have
moved on to other things.

I liken the links to Christmas. Christmas morning the kids are all excited about the goodies Santa left them, and by January 2nd the toys and goodies are either broken, lost, or forgotten.

Life is a short trip to another world
