I wish everyone the best of luck. I know it will be tricky but get creative! Might I suggest watching some spy movies? It would help.

might as well just submit mine. don't feel like making a "how it's made" but trust me it took a lot of notepad and shaderwork. you know, the part I hate.

Spent the long weekend on this one... Wanted to prove to myself that I could use Rolfy's method and actually create something that looks better than 3ds max in FPSC.

All textures are baked in max, then set up in FPSC. No lightmapping was used in FPSC as it was not necessary. Not sure if this is cheating but since it isnt in the rules (and also was a pain in the rear to actually get working) I assume its ok.

This same scene will probably make an appearance in my upcoming game BULLETPOINT, hence the titling. Hope thats alright.

Cheers,
Anayar

Double post

Just tweaking a lot of things... didnt like the pipe, car or the smoothing groups on the barrels. Changed the character as well.I feel like its much better now

The biggest downside to the method that Im using is that in order to make even a small change, you have to go all the way back into Max, rebake and reassemble :S Luckily Max renders fast so I can get a preview of what it will look like before I port it to FPSC.

Big thanks to JZ (a fellow forum user) as the trash can and pillar are his. Barrels and Light from MP3 along with wall and floor textures. Jeep is from fpsfiles. All characters are ones I downloaded from somewhere a long time ago but if anyone is aware of where they are from please let me know so I can give credit!

New entry attached (its quite big watch out)

Cheers,
Anayar

So... after some consideration and thinking over the entries, I have decided that the winner is:

VENT

Let me elaborate on everyone's entry and explain how I came to this conclusion.

Northern-

Night vision is pretty cool but otherwise I can't tell whats really happening in this scene. I don't know who is tracking who or what.

xren4ig-

It's obvious that you are watching these two guys but I kind of had to question the usefulness of the binoculars because the guy is so close to the two soldiers. The scene is nice and elaborate though.

The Zoq2-

I like the scene and its pretty obvious what is going on. The forest screen is nice and crisp. I just felt a lack of action.

Bugsy-

The scene is visually appealing and the full-screen shader is a nice touch. The silenced pistol really gives it a stealth undertone. This one was good but it unfortunately gets bested.

midget overlord-

The scene is very basic but I it does sort of fit a stealth theme.

uzi idiot-

It looks nice but I can't really tell what is going on here. You have a guy in black who appears to blend with the darkness but I can't tell what is supposed to be going on.

anayar-

Since the second screen is too big, I can't consider it but the 1st entry looks pretty good. This would have probably been second place is there was such a thing. The baked lighting is very cool and adds a bit of edge over some previous seen environments.

Leongamerz-

It looks to me like someone is repealing down in this scene but I'm not to sure if that is what is going on. I'd say this is a pretty good attempt however.

VENT-

I loved it. It's not quite espionage but its very apparent that the marines were stalking these guys before they attacked. A stealth take-down depiction with some live fire in the background in a nice touch. It has good action and fits the theme.

kingofmk98-

It's an okay screenshot. I feel as if it was copying a lot of the previous entries. I was hoping to see a little more variety.

So there you have it. VENT is the winner. There were some good screenies entered this time around. I hope everyone feels like I was being fair in the judging. Honestly, I was hoping to see more lasers, vents, crawlspaces, and such. It's alright though. No one seemed to stray too far from the theme.

Thanks guys for the submissions.

Congratulations VENT!! I really liked that screenshot... Gives a very intense action feeling!
Did you pose the models in a modeler or was that shot just taken at a perfect timing??

Great work everyone!

Anayar

Hello all,

Congratulations Vent your screenshot was actually very nice, besides compliments to all other participants of this competition also for their effort in trying to show a great scene for all of us.

Astek thank you for your comments regarding my screenshot. In fact, I could not make the agent in the alley to point its gun against the bad guys walking along the sidewalk.

The stupid agent stubbornly insisted in looking at the camera all the time, losing the picture a bit its goal. Never mind, it was very funny and boring at the same time seeing that weird behavior of the teammate.

Kravenwolf thank you for your offer, and as soon as possible I shall be sending you my email with my choice.

Nice competition but unfortunately, there were few entries, in my opinion.

Greetings,

Whoops. I said "this" Tuesday again. I'm going to continue running these competitions every other Tuesday, rather than each week to give the repeat entrants a week of downtime between comps so that they don't get bored with these contests, or they can't fit them in with their other projects to participate every week.

I admit I am running late getting this week's thread running, as it should have been posted yesterday. I'm falling a bit behind with things this week, but, I do hope what comes as a prize to the winner and the runner up of the next competition both explains and justifies the delay to everyone waiting to enter.

If I can't finish up things tonight to start the next competion this Thursday (tommorow), #9 will run the following Tuesday (the 26th).

The 26th and still nothing.

And don't ask why I didn't start one. I'm not good enough to do so, and I can't hand out prizes like KW can.
