Hey all. It's been a while since I've posted here, but there's been an idea rolling around in my head for quite some time that I'd like to share.

Well, see, we all know FPSC-Game is written in DBP and though DBPro is a great tool for beginning programmers to make games, it's just not practical for a large project like the FPSC-Game executable (or the mapeditor, but my interest is not there at the moment). There are other issues too, such as an inability to fine-tune performance, etc.

So I'm very strongly considering rewriting the entire FPSC-Game codebase in another language, probably C#, because it's relatively performant and not too difficult for beginning programmers, like C++ can be. In the process, I want to improve on pretty much every aspect of FPSC, scripting in particular, because I think it'd be great to replace fpi with a real language.

I consider this approach to be much better than the traditional source mod approach. Those things just become unmaintainable, and their creators lose interest, don't have enough time, or whatever else. Anyone remember Lemur? (No disrespect meant to Urlforce et al. for that comment. I think him, Plystire, and others did some great work.)

But anyway, I'm seriously considering making this into a real project. (And yes, I am a capable enough programmer to do that...) This isn't a team request or anything, more like a call for comments. So please, discuss.

I think its a great idea. Fpsc needs a stronger language then what it uses and it will increase performance and fix many issues.
