I am trying to find a free screen recorder that also records the audio on the screen. I tried the ones reccomended in the community guide, but they all required me to pay to get audio. Anyone know a good one?

I'm sure you are referring to recording your game? I can't remember the ones I tried only because I could never get them to work with the audio. I had then tried a three Game recorders and I like FRAPS the best. They are continually upgrading it and are very good with tech support. In fact I had an issue that was actually a bug. An earlier version was working just fine with recording "talk boxes" but then they made an upgrade that broke it. They worked with me with this issue until they were able to fix it. The newest version is now 3.5.3. This does cost but if you are really serious about this then start saving up your money for this.

If you are talking about a recording video of the screen, then there is a free app called CamStudio you could try. It is found here.

For some reason, only FRAPS possesses the ability to record audio. I have no idea why!

It works perfectly! Video quality's a little low, but I can deal with that.

midget overlord: if you install the Lossless Codec (found on the same site as CamStudio) you can get much better quality. Unfortunatly there is a problem when installing this codec on Win7 I have heard...

It must be affecting only specific systems with specific configurations or hardware. We have CamStudio with the Lossless Codec installed on both our Win 7 32bit and 64bit and it works perfect for us.

So, you were interested in a full screen video capture and not for just games. Of course, CamStudio was the choice I recommended for that.

Out of curiosity does CamStudio (which I have but don't use with my games) capture a game? Haven't tried. Too lazy to try and I'm very happy with FRAPS anyway. I use CamStudio for other applications and for tutorials.

Yes it does, quite well. In CamStudio, set the Region to "full screen" and it records the game.
