I don't know if this has been stated before, or if it's just common knowledge that I recently figured out on my own, but I thought that I should share this little tip for the good of the community.

As we all (or, as most of us) know, when you set up the build game screen for your impending awesomeness, the skybox refuses to change, including the ambience, if you should so decide on a different skybox for your level. And it bothered me so much that I had to figure out how to get it to change and stick WITHOUT altering the setup.ini file manually. And here's how I did it.

I started my game level and it used the skybox that was the currently set sky. I then changed it, and nothing happened (which was completely expected). So I started a new level (File, New), and then changed the skybox to what I wanted (in this case, cty). I set a ground tile and a player marker and clicked Test to make sure that the skybox worked. It did.

I then loaded my game level, complete with its own setup.ini file that was already set with the cty skybox I wanted to use. I clicked test, and...bingo! The skybox worked.

I tried this as a test several times, changing the skybox multiple times (as well as the ambience), reloading my game level after each change to make sure it stuck. And it does.

This is a round-about work-around for this, but it does work. And I just wanted to share this with the community. Although, hopefully, this will get changed in an upcoming release of FPSC.

not to be funny, but, that seems a lot more work than just opening your Setup.ini and changing the skybox name there.

I think this method will confuse people.

But, thanks for sharing your find.

1 week, 80 views, and the only response is someone telling me it's not a good idea because people may be confused? Wow. Thought I was sharing something useful, but apparently not.

sorry, leon, but i think most of us, as said, change skybox directly in levelsetup.ini, i have touched the buildeditor only once, directly after installation to see whats in there.

but for those who would never come in contact with texteditor and fpsc-folders, its absolutely usefull, so thanks, even if i will never need.

by the way dont give anything on views, there is also googlesearch into it, and you have not that low amount of interesting keywords here. i dont think that more than 4000 people looked into my wip... well, would be great.^^

Hello Leon Kennedy,

I can understand your disappointment, but I think this kind of feeling almost everyone here on this forum felt already one time or another.

Post something or make a thread about a theme is like sending a screen shot to the gallery, occasionally only 100 people will see your photo and at times more than 1000 people will see another photo you send in a next time.

See, for example, the current Screenshot Competition Resurrection (Resurrection) # 8 - Espionage Reconnaissance with 608 views up to now when this post was written, while the previous Screenshot Competition Resurrection (Resurrection) # 7 - Cyberpunk Sci-Fi with 3.123 visualizations so far.

I think it's all a matter of expectation about what we are making because sometimes we think that something will be very good for someone and when we do not get the expected result, the disappointment occurs.

This time your thread has had few visualizations so far, but maybe another your post in the future you might get further than 2000 visualizations and much more than 50 responses who know that!

Try to face it like a normal fact, although disappointing, keep moving forward and thanks for sharing with us your tip.

All the best,

Northern
