Hello everyone! I am making a game that allows you to change your characters appearance and was wondering if there was an easy way to fit character face textures onto full character texture maps? I use Paint.NET but there doesn't seem to be a good tool for the task of cutting around certain areas of a face texture in order to fit it on a different one. I'm mainly using the Male Civilian and Female Clerk from Model Pack 4.

Hmm with my limited modeling and texturing knowledge. you may have to load the character into something Like Blender where you can unwrap the character mesh then apply the textures you'd like, you would just have to name the character differently.

I am sure someone on here will have a better way of doing it

simply make a copy of the used texture and fpe and change texturepath/name there. then edit it in a paint-prog like GIMP (open source freeware) or photoshop, but i dont think you can change textures ingame or load textures/characters into a running game. you would have to place all variations of the character on the map and trigger the one that is chosen, but that would cause a raise of ram-use. should not be a problem when using 3 different versions or male/female, but i wouldnt use more than 3.

how you want to show the character? doing a third-person game? interesting.

You see I'm trying to fit a face I bought off the internet already made for a game onto the face in the image I attached but it is proving to be very difficult. I am using Paint.NET.

set transperency of the new picture to 50% and place it over the original texture so eyes and lips match. these are the fixpoints of a face and also modeled in the most cases (maybe you have to vary it in width to fit it onto the headform, this is trial and error). then reedit transparency to 100% and cut it so it fits onto the original texture, and done.
