Trying to achieve a fallout 3 look. These are both non-comercial use only just looking for opinions.

on pic 1, i think "work" applied is too obvious. ie:
> mostly "rock bits" causing missing paint/art.
> should be subtle blending vs (definite) spot-work.
> contrast between light/dark is too much/should be more "natural".
> spots of brown and blue "paint" still vivid; should show more age/weathering there.
> work too "random" and busy. try a larger brush and age/weather where it "makes sense" vs "all over". note how this image is dirty/darker around the edges, with center "lighter" plus a couple "dirty" spots near/around vaultboy:

pic 2, i like the "kinda rusty" look on the lettering but the red is pretty vivid, as in pic 1 (unless the bright red "pop" was what you were going for, there).
> same "busy" note from pic 1.
> while the 2 "shades" are even more contrasting than in pic 1, the colors work better together.
> how about roughing up the edges on the raised lettering some? they're pretty sharp for something that's gone through what it has...

general summary/advice: "less is more"

I found some nice pictures of old stuff here http://www.alanbauer.com/Old%20Things.htm
Including a wooden Coca Cola sign:

See how the red has streaks of pink from water running down the sign. Your sign doesn't look worn at all, just attacked by some unusually aggressive mould.

Here's a nice reference for rust:

damn it why can't this forum deal with spaces?

Shh... you're pretty.
