You could find the distance using a function like this:
function sprite_distance(spriteNum1, spriteNum2)
x1 = sprite x(spriteNum1):y1 = sprite y(spriteNum1)
x2 = sprite x(spriteNum2):y2 = sprite y(spriteNum2)
dist# = sqrt(((x2 - x1)^2) + ((y2 - y1)^2))
endfunction dist#
It won't tell if there is a collision, but it will return the distance in 2D space.
If you want a collision returned (0/1) by distance, you can use this:
function sprite_distance(spriteNum1, spriteNum2, collisionDistance#)
x1 = sprite x(spriteNum1):y1 = sprite y(spriteNum1)
x2 = sprite x(spriteNum2):y2 = sprite y(spriteNum2)
dist# = sqrt(((x2 - x1)^2) + ((y2 - y1)^2))
if dist# < collisionDistance# then exitfunction 1
endfunction 0
