As I said in another thread that was similiar to this. This is what my kids are inheriting.

Grand-kids will probably appreciate it more. As someone responded, don't tell them this or they may want to do something to speed up their inheritance. :LOL:

Talk about chasing the Dragon. I tell my wife I could spend the money on booze and strippers instead. Atleast I am being creative right?

I like that one too.

If I mentioned that to my wife of 45+ years, she would get mad at me for even thinking I might do that (the booze and strip joints).

They always do my friend, they always do. YOu've been married a lot longer than I. But you want to have some fun? Buy your wife flowers on your birthday. She will be so confused and suspicious. It a warped way it's pretty comical to watch my wife drive herself nut trying to figure out what I did wrong.

Even though all I have is the bonanza pack so far (and I guess it can show at times) I welcome the inclusion of more and more model packs. I seriously wish that a thousand more would be made. Don't make FPS creator 2, just make more model packs! This program is way too fun. But still, this is only my opinion I guess. xD

@bedside

I thought it would be cool if TGC did some kind of Model Pack request contest. Where someone comes up with a certain number of Model Pack concepts and lets the forum vote on it.

Personaly I'd like to see a CIA-FBI-Secret Service type pack. The whole espionage thing. A true prison Model pack would be cool as well.

Fpsc 2? Really? I am just figuring out Fpsc 1x9 1.19 release.

You know what I'd looove, dude? I would love just some average civilians. Like, for a somewhat bustling city. I'v noticed that in a few games people like to include the male civilian from MP4 as the player character. Not that that's wrong, but it'd be cool just to have some more NORMAL people. haha But an Espionage pack would be epic. CIA, MI6, KGB, ISS. Give them their respective sidearms too: Sig, Walther, Makarov, IMI.

I like the sound of both. I certainly have been wanting more civilians and because I like intrigue and that sort of stuff. I'm a great fan of MI5-Spooks. It is a British TV series; although, I'm from the USA.

My current game I'm creating is based after Dr. Who. Instead of a TARDIS it is a TASDIM (Time And Spatial Dimensions Interactive Machine) Instead of the sonic screwdriver it is the Rythmical Power Wand or RPW for short. Instead of a police telephone booth it is the old (which seems to be still around in their country) red public telephone booth.

I have a thread in WIP but I haven't updated it for sometime now. Oh, and of course it cannot be Dr. Who. I actually have a name for him and he's not a Dr. he is a professor. Professor Jeremiah James and the player's sidekick is Bob Corvine a type of wizard found on another world.

Sorry don't mean to hijack but this seems to be a miscellaneous thread in a way that might get locked anyway.

I should check out the other sections but as Beside said I kinda have this borderline mentally unhealthy obesseion with FPSC.

As I said in an another post you know it's bad when you open a closet and think to yourself this would be a good place for a medkit. Or your wife is rambling on about how she can't find a bed spread that matches the new bathroom towels (the ones we can use which are next to the soap we can't use)and your writting a script in your head.

It's sad It's really sad..........but its so much fun!

I have, (like I said before) the bonanza pack and I pretty much use all of it in this upcoming game of mine: "Funhouse: Can You Survive?" Still, it's not enough, so I have a lot of user made entity packs being used. lol Then, for the next game, I'm probably just gonna go wild and buy all the model packs I need, and then so on for the next game. Entities are like guns: you can never have enough. lol

Funny you say that I just installed the modern warfare pack last night. For no other reason other than I didn't have it.

Tell me this you ever get the sense that the more you learn about fpsc. The more you realize how little you know?

Definitely! Today, for the game, I recorded the basic voice overs for the player character (all the pain grunts, jump sounds, death stuff). then, I made ALL of the hud text (press 'e' to use, you picked up a key). But now, I realize I need menu screens, music, complete voice overs, more fpi's. but the learning curve is amazing to me.

I welcome it, knowing that my next game will be bigger, and better with the use of upcoming updates, plus my new found experience in those areas.

This is why I started a Dr. Who type game. I will be able to use a lot of the Model Packs because of the basic Genre of being not only a space traveler but a time traveler.

I also want my youngest Grandson to get interested in game development . . .

@ bedside, Whats cool is that If I get burned out on FPSC I just mess around with blender for a while. I am just finishing up a home pack, framed pictures, sofas coffe tables and the like.
Ill post them soon for use. Too busy playing with MP 53 at the moment.

This thread reminded me that I have yet to make a game with FPSC... How sad is that?? Had the program for 4+ years, make models constantly (well not for some time now but oh well) but have yet to create a game

Cheers,

lol So, I'm finally off work and all I can say is, nearly the entire time, i was thinking: "Garage. Parking garage. That'd be nice. But with like a foot of water on the floor. Broken pipes? Yeah, kinda cliche though. Washing machines from the other room. That'd be better. Shows age in the building. Nobody's fixed it in a while."

@Troutflies
I have blender and sooner or later when I take a break from making my game, I wanna delve into it and learn it. I have this goal of making a clutter pack. Empty cigarette packs, pads of paper, hangers, crushed soda cans, open magazines, candles, perfume/cologne bottles, air freshener cans, credit cards, electrical outlets (I just noticed that I don't think anyone has made those yet). That's my goal. Is at least 40 to 50 entities just to spruce up the environment.

@bedside, Blender is actually quite easy to figure out check out this site [href]CGCOOKIE.COM[/href] search out the low poly concrete barrier. It was a ggod starting point for me anyway. I don't use the tecnique he uses (box Modeling) but it gives you a good start in modeling and uv mapping.

There are a few other good tuts out there. Definatly if your going to check out any try and find the intro to blender.

I knew I was getting into trouble when I was populating a level and I needed a crate and none I had looked right. So Without even closing FPSC, I opened blender made my crate Mapped it and placed it in the level in about ten minutes.

Yeah, it's not the construction that I'm dreading, it's the textures. That might be pretty difficult.

@bedside,

Actually I had trouble with that as well, It takes a little practice. Start with something simple like a crate or something. Something where all the sides are the same. Where you dont have to do a whole lot of editing the texture itself. Let me know if you delve into it. I try and help where I can. It like I used to tell my fly fishing students, "your thinking too much" "Its way less complicated than your brain is making you think it is."

Thanks, man! I'll probably hit it sooner or later, when I'm not busy with work and stuff. Then I'll dive head first.

Hey, quick question, is there a script or perhaps if it's not too much trouble, could somebody make a script for me that causes a door to be blown down by a specific item? In this level that I'm constructing, I'd like to progress through by using a specific item to blow down the door. You have to get to one side of the map and bring the item back. Thanks. xD

@ Bedside,

Not sure about that script, seems possible, but with FPSC you never can be too sure. I have been trying to figure out how to make a flashlight that actually casts a focused beam as opposed to messing with the ambient light and giving illusion that your using a flashlight. There seems like there should be a way to make something like that work.

Maybe try the Holez program, you can edit segments and such to apply punches then fill them with an obstacle that the play has to get through like a boarded up window for example. I wonder if you could use that and manipulate it to work as you'd like.

Another thought that just came to my FPSC soaked brain. What if you did a series of Screen shots. The first on would be the door closed, the next place the door at a slight angle away from the player, and so on until the door is on the floor, Then write a scipt that will show each one of those screenies as a hud in rapid succession to sort of stop animate the huds, almost like an ingame cut scene. I posted a script not too long ago that sort of used this technique you would just have to speed up the timers. But here check it out. Place it in the main of a trigger.

lol Yeah, i'm just trying to add some variety to the gameplay. i just started adding audio files for the player to listen to. You can only open so many doors with keys, levers and triggers, you know? Then the game gets redundant and boring. I just like to keep it like Dream Theater... Progressive.

Thats what I started to dislike abour the fps games, back in the day. Duke,doom,wolfenstein,,red faction,medal of honor the list goes on. After a while of playing those games I realized they were all the same. Go here, press this button, pull that lever while your doing that kill some NPC's along the way. I know your supposed to have a reason for playing the game not just out killing things. But I argue a game like Left 4 dead, where the only real point is to try and survive while fighting off waves of zombies, is to get to the other side of the map. With that simple concept you open way more possibilities from the player perspective, and how that player approaches gameplay each time. I prefer to sneak around as much as I can and take pot shots with a sniper rifle, you may just want to go through and destroy everything you see. It's nice for a change to not have to worry about fiding keys or levers or an actual mission list. It's just go there and try and survive along the way.

have you checked out Maho's game Habitat? talk about outside the box with first of all a FPS and also made on FPSC. ITs got a retro modernistic flavor to it. Check out the video if yu haven't already.

new update on habitat is coming next week. but i have to say that while the action is okay, i have to think of adding some additional gameplay in each level to not loose interest and become boring over time. some good placed riddles with triggers to go on are a good thing, but its with everything: dont overuse it and "hide" it as best as you can in using different shapes for the same thing (searching a bomb to blow a door is nothing else than finding a key to open it).

@bedsidereaper: maybe you want to take a look on rolfys new modelpack, pack 63 - wall destruction at its best, easy to trigger with items when editing some few scripts, and very useful: blocked corridors to re-open with a boltthrowing can-opener.^^ new ways to "open doors", thats why i like this pack so much. enables completely new ways for leveldesign, not only some nice-shaped models to place.
well... not new, but looks better than any other exploding walls out there.

... so this is the way to go back on topic: its never been enough.^^

lol True, true, it just depends on how you bring the bomb back. Honestly, Maho, I hope I become as good as you at modeling entities and segments. Habitat looks beyond good.
