Which version of DBPro are you compiling with?
I know there are some Win7 problems with versions older than the current release candidate.

You may need to utilise the DEP feature in Win 7 as your newer CPU might feature this and function better than the other two...

Otherwose... Make sure you have similar setups on all systems...

Also on the two other machines are you using dedicated graphics cards and I guess you have an intel i series ... The internal gpu is not the best of chips... Mmm starving now...

Could you post a picture possibly of what it looks like on each computer? I'm not sure if mine is running the way you intend or not. This is what I get (there is no movement or response from the keyboard):

I tried looking at your code to maybe see if it's something in there that could be causing the issue... but to be honest, it's pretty hard to follow. With all the gotos and variable names like 'hhhh', 'hscr', 'hof', 'hd', 'fh', 'h', 'v', 'sz', 'szv', 'sz1', 'hv'& etc. It's really hard to read.

My suggestion would be to firstly give all your variables names that are recognizable and relevant to the data being store in them. I would secondly suggest that you find an alternative to the tons of gosubs and gotos.

I hope I'm not coming across as a code nazi, but I believe the issue you are encountering could be resolved much easier if it was easier to read.

DBP Games work okay for me on this profile, so it's not the CPU.

I agree, check you have the latest update

Quote: "You may need to utilise the DEP feature in Win 7"

I doubt it, DEP is about core Windows executables, and it would have come up many times if it was a problem, all DBP games use the same set of M$ Dlls.

Even though it shouldn't be an issue these days, this can be a problem. Check your drivers are up to date.

Hey BatVink

I thought maybe he is using some mechanism or external DLL that may cause DEP to trigger as its memory access based... Like Tree Magik and Plant Life they require DEP and also DBPro to get rid of the failed to add tPCKto EXE although I also have to tell my amtivirus to ignore the folder too ^^

Hope you are doing good

Thanks , still no clue why it doesn't work on the quad core, and other people on here say it doesn't work properly

All the pcs have dedicated graphics cards

seems to not paste the images to the screen in main subroutine "gosub paster"

mrHandy thanks but I don't see how that would affect it, but will try anyway

Can't really release it , knowing it doesn't work on some machines

Here's what it looks like ,on a machine it works on...intel dual core win7 pro 32 bit Nvidia geforce 8400 gs 3.25g ram

DBPro 1.0761 not using any special .dlls

I am not willing to join the argument on goto and gosub...lol

That's why it's not working. DBPro requires you to be at V1.077 in order for it to run on Windows 7 SP1. Since you're not using any special DLLs, try upgrading to U77 and see if it works.

Still doesn't work DBPro u77

Same sheet !

Course I might have known that from people trying it on here , duh !

So, we can write programs that work on selected PCs? lol

NEVER EVER USE GOTO,I THINK THIS IS THE PROBLEM,ITS YOUR GOTO'S ALL OVER. USE THE GOSUB command,THEN YOU CAN RETURN TO YOUR LAST CODE IF NEEDED.

Unlike the GOSUB command, you cannot return from a call when using the GOTO command.

The label can be made up from any combination of alphabetic characters, but
you must end the declaration of the label using a colon(. You only need to use a colon when you are declaring the label, and should not be used when calling the label
from a GOTO command.

Lol, that's a good one ! You think your program compiles to code with no jumps?

No jumps? what do you mean, that is what the GOSUB command is for,to jump back and forth to diffrent commands,if you want help, then dont make fun of others when we try to help. Its your program that does not work, not mine, all of mine works on every ones pc,so I would not mock me.

Dont ask for help if you know it all,I was trying to help you,but now, forget it,lol.

How is you saying a program doesn't work, due to goto and gosub, helping?

I wasn't mocking you, per se, but the goto/gosub debate

Assembly language is all about jumps, and that , after all is what any code is, in the end...

[quote]NEVER EVER USE GOTO,I THINK THIS IS THE PROBLEM[QUOTE]

So, how come it works on some PCs and not others?

If I was popping the stack, then ok,...I am not , and if I was I'd be popping the fricking stack on all the PCs

Not mocking, just telling the truth

If you have goto set up instead of GOSUBs then how is your code jumping back? it cant, this was my point,if I am wrong,so be it,I was trying to help, after I tryed to help, you lauphed at me for it,.

Quote: "So, how come it works on some PCs and not others?"

its your program, you tell me,I did not write your code, you did.

I gave you a idea of what it can be,just to help, nothing else, there is no debate, never was.

as far as I know GO SUB is the best option and GO TO is somewhat broken

I am out of here before this turns into a flame war... Relax boys

OK Daniel, ty, but I don't see how you can help if you don't know that a goto cannot "jump back" ...WHat would make you think you CAN help?

I am not having a go at you, and I thank you for trying to help

This problem is one for the developers of this language, who, as far as I am aware (and I am trying to be kind here) have been little help all along, if programs written in DBPro work on one PC and not another, then , as far as I can see, it is their problem

As usual, there is little help from them...

a goto cannot "jump back, this is what it says in the dark basic pro example,do a goto then look at the help file,it will tell you a go to can not jump back, here it is right here, the help file.

The program doesn't work on my computer with Windows XP 32 bit. I think there is something wrong with the program conception somewhere. If it takes colours to make a map, then the colours might be screwed up.

I suppose the colours might well read differently on different hardware, even in the confines of DB bitmap and point commands, so ty

I will have to do some looking into it, will be away for a while tho

Will check in about a week

I would never be expecting a goto to "JUMP BACK"

That works now. If you use a colour map as a jpeg the colours will change, so maybe that's what happened.

Gotos are a perfectly legal way to jump around your code. Problem is, it gets very confusing and spaghetti-like as the program gets longer.

Gosub/return is one way to execute a block of code, then have it return to the place from where you called it. The other way is to use functions.

There are some good tutorials around on this board to do with code structure. I also suggest that you look at the Newbies board - not to patronise, but issues like this are more likely to be addressed in there.

Cheers, and good luck with the prog

I guess Hannibal is just a troll. I gave him solution twice, here and in his previous thread. He is obviously ignoring my posts.

He made 3 (three) threads with same problem.
