There doesn't seem to be any questions on the presumably recently added video texture feature that I could find (in fact I only discovered it when opening a level manually and opening the "examples" folder that had appeared).

I'm making a level at night, and if other people's levels that take place inside or at night are like mine, then the ambient light will be 0. The only problem is that this night level was going to have big billboards with video advertisements on. As a concept, it works, but only if the ambient light level is set above 0 (at which point the video disappears). I've tried changing the shader to an illumination one, and I've tried placing a light near the entity. Nothing. Is there any way of getting round this?

EDIT:
Actually I have found a way to make it appear, if dimly. Just surround the entity with a few dynamic white lights and it does appear. Brighter would be better.

By default, it has effectbank\illuminationent\illuminationent.fx assigned to the entity...

I think the shader might be broken(?) because I have some other custom entities which use that shader and no longer work properly.

I dont know which version you guys are using but illuminationent.fx works fine in V1.19

Rather than use a few dynamic lights use just one and increase the intensity, add lightintensity=275 or whatever value works for you. Still if the shader is broken its going to cause me real probs as I use it a lot.

Awesome! Its one of those threads.

Rofly, I'm using 1.20 beta 2.
Don't think 1.19 had the videotexture feature.

edit: On second look, it isn't broken as it works fine on the stock teleporter. Not sure whats going on.

edit2: I was able to get my old entities working again by adding a texture path in the FPE for the I map. Not sure how one would go about similar solution for the video textures :/

That could be my problem and could be the reason nobody's talking about it yet. Changing the intensity does work but only if you set it to something insane (3000 seemed to work).

I was referring only to the illuminationent shader I actually haven't tried V1.20 so dont know if the videotexure feature uses this.
Its something I could get a lot of use out if it works properly. It would make sense if video were full bright by default and shouldn't require a shader.

Awesome! Its one of those threads.
