I have my game set at bolth, there is 2 versions, side scroller type and a first person,in the first person,it still plays as a side scroller having the player at the same z position all the time,it looks real cool, but, what do all of you think in this day and adge? would any one buy it as a side scroller? the side scroller is set in a 3d world also to add.

In our little corner of the market, side scrolling, 2D, all that stuff is still viable. I mean, most of the succesful indi games are 2D, having a sidescrolling camera view wouldn't put me off - use the camera mode that makes your game look the coolest.

I would do a basic implementation of both camera views. Just test, or let others test, and see what works best.

Also consider your other gameplay mechanics and what camera angle it benefits most from.

I was thinking this last night,I was considering switching camera modes in game play with no options,if it loods better in side view, then the camera will switch so on and so forth.

Don't sell yourself short, first person view all the way. Look for ways to innovate, just like they did with portal. (sorry in advance to the 2D crowd)

Edit:
2nd thought, lets see some screenshots. Would be a lot better advice if we knew what we were working with.

I'd say based off the video, either make it 3rd person and add a resident evil style where its not just one long track (1st person mario bros.). Like vary where you can go a little bit or break levels into smaller areas where you have more freed movement. Or maybe something like Crash Bandicoot.

Or I'd suggest making it 2.5D scroller. But even then a single continuous track would kind of be limp. Maybe mix it up with several vertical paths and maybe even have some paths be closer or further from the screen.
