Hi everybody!

Don't know if anyone here remembers me, but I'm considering about coming back to FPSC! I'm seeing new members joining, and I can see how the quality of the stuff has increased drastically!

So here're a few questions I have regarding FPSC.

1)Is it safe to use? Meaning, does it crash less and perform better than previous versions of FPSC?

2)Do games made with it run at good fps on slower machines while maintaining a decent-ish (@25 fps) framerate?

3)Not related with FPS Creator though, where is that game I was seeing very frequently, called Operation Diffuse. I remember running it on my FPSC computer and it ran like a charm. I was looking forward to how far that chap got with it.

V1.20 is currently being worked on by Scene Commander and will hopefully address both of those issues, as performance and stability are what this update is concentrating on, rather than adding any new features. I've been trying out the betas and I can tell you right now, on my machine, which is quite a slow machine, I've seen a near 100% improvement in frame rate

Oh, and welcome back, how's you guitar playing going?

You jest right? or you are related or you might even be him for all I know, this is exactly the kind of thing Slayer267 would say here particularly as a simple search reveals the multiple threads he created for said game (which might explain your frequent sightings), whatever, if you were trying that particular game a while back it apparently ran at an awesome 14fps for most folks with a decent comp, I think it might have been improved by now provided he hasn't gotten himself banned again and he's actually started to listen to the advice he was so good at ignoring.

Anyhoo welcome back.

Awesome! Its one of those threads.

Trust me that's not Slayer267 as I have seen this user in the past. His game can be found in the showcase section he kinda dropped it i think. But anyways welcome back!

Lol, I know its not him, I was kidding, if anything AbdulAhad never acted so immaturely as Slayer 267 that I remember, just it was a very odd choice of game to remember out of all the games in WIP in this way since it actually ran like treacle (might be better improved now). Only person I ever saw touting the game like this was the man himself.

Awesome! Its one of those threads.

agreed. I find this thread interesting. perhaps abdul is only trying to help a friend garner popularity for his game but either way I want to know how it's possible the game runs great on a machine worse than mine, which didn't run it well at all. either way.

I'm ABSOLUTELY OVERJOYED to see abdul back as he was an excellent dev and an inspiration. Gunn3r, now abdul? who's next.

I'm definitely excited to getting back into FPSC again, as long as it can run decently on a low-spec machine.

I loved the days when I would just hop into FPSC and design away levels. I would share them on Facebook and get fantastic feedback from MetalDevil, Bugsy, Bruce and a few others.

Never actually got around to make an actual project though, even though I helped out a couple of my friends with their projects.

I saw that game a couple of times before leaving. I also tried the demo he supplied, which ran at a consistent 30 fps on my weak FPSC machine. I also liked how his game evolved from an absolute pathetic 'game' to a semi-well finished challenging demo. I have been in constant contact with a couple of my other friends such as Bugsy, who's games are absolutely awesome by the way, and Wolf. Both developers are absolutely pushing the limits of FPSC in their individual games as well as with their next title, The Nephilism Protocol! When Bugsy showed me his screens, I could not believe how far FPSC had actually gotten, but was it working well with a lower end machine. That's why I tried to get into game programming instead, but unfortunately, school and life haven't actually let me explore deeper into Dark Basic.

Thanks! I'm learning a couple percussive acoustic pieces, will be posting some new stuff soon!

i've never managed to start one either.

Hello again!!!! Sorry for this late reply and 'bump' just barely had the chance to reply.

@anayar I'm back in Pakistan for the holidays. Canada is a fantastic place. Education just limits how much development can be done. -.-

@gendestroier thanks mate!! I'll be trying out fpsc next week. Looking forward to it!

1) no, but you can arrange yourself with it (save often, close before loading a new map, test shaders and models before they cause a crash on your main map etc.).as before it misses data when exporting wich you have to load by hand, bad-build maps crash...

2) without v120beta a bit better than before because of the new culling system (if used propperly). as with all the new features, trying to build in everything without selection will cause you trouble, yes. but you now got a much wider range of actions to choose from. there are some collision-probs atm, but v120 is on the way.

3) still downing-street to the sub, london.^^
