Just a viewer/editor to play with particle commands...

How are you making the buttons? Are they generated at runtime? Or custom made textured?

It's a code snippet, so no media. It has bugs, but is fun to mess with.

Hey,
I just used the BOX command and slapped the text on top of it.
(Boxes/text are re-generated each loop.)

Thanks!
Let me know what the bugs are - I've only tested this on my old Dell Dimension 2300...LoL. So sad.

I might update with an RBG selector and switch for snow particles.
If I do all that though, it becomes "more than a snippet."
(...Boston parody song, anyone?)

DBPro's MAKE PARTICLES is slow, but can be used creatively in quick cut-scenes and such.

I really want to start using advanced plugins but my computer sucks.

Well the bugs are....

Ghosting stays off, and doesn't come back on.

Remove floor gets the menu locked out, I think until the particles drop a certain distance, and feels like the program has crashed, but then comes back to life after awhile.

And menu choices are so fast that you can't get them accurate, which is just a sync rate fix.

Ok, I think i fixed the ghosting, although the ghost modes all look the same to me (dark background?)

I fixed the FLOOR button issue, but I don't see a problem with the menu overall, unless you mean holding down the mouse button causes the values to change too fast.

Looks like turning off the floor will cause the particle "life" to last a long time, so it's best to set the LIFE setting to a very low number.

I have the sync rate at 55, what works best for you?
(I actually thought about adding a sync rate button.)

I also fixed camera tracking, Y offset speed, and emission positioning.

Clicking the mouse as fast as I can changes a value about 4 places instead of 1.

Ok, I added a short WAIT onto each function, so the mouse clicks should be smoother.

I also fixed Chaos, which wasn't working.

PORTAL/GHOST-WALK EFFECT

Here's a creepy "portal" looking effect to try in the editor:

Y POS: -0.2
EMI LVL: 1
VELOCITY: 5
GRAVITY: -58
SPEED: 0.000999999
CHAOS: 0
FLOOR: OFF
LIFE: 1
GHOST: ON (5%)
RADIUS: 22

If you move the X Position back and forth, it looks like a "ghost" walking.

DANCING FLAME

Y POS: -0.2
EMI LVL: 1
VELOCITY: 1
GRAVITY: -24
SPEED: 0.0085
CHAOS: "Flame Intensity" 0-???
FLOOR: ON
LIFE: 30
GHOST: ON (2%)
RADIUS: 22

(I have no idea if these will run the same on all computers)

Cool
It runs fast on my computer hard to land on the number you want but I like the buttons. They make it is very easy to change stuff.

Thanks for the feedback!
Check it out... I have added mouse delay, randomize and element color buttons!

I fixed a lot of bugs today!

I think tomorrow I'll add a ROTATE button for some even nastier effects!
I'll also look into adding a code output feature, so particle effects can be dropped right into a program.

(Wish I was one of those genius coders who could make this in 20 lines!)
